Got my Bandit! 2002, Blue, 3455 miles!
A consignment bike, but after I bought it, I replaced the consumables. I had em put on braided steel lines for the brakes and clutch, new gel-cell battery, new RoadSmarts, a 7500-mile service, including valves and card-sync. Rode it back to the house from the dealer, my first ride since Fall 2006. Torque and pull I could only dream of on the NighthawkS. This is some bike. Snicked down to 4th at around 70 (a habit I can get out of), rolled on a little throttle, it hit around 5K on the tach and sure enough, the front wheel started coming up. Easily controlled, no sweat. Brakes to stop my car, and the suspension is velvet compared to my Nighthawk. Amazing to me all this. As astounding as the performance of this bike is to me, most of the bikes you doods ride render to THIS bike the status of snail. Yall must have some fast gawd-dammed bikes.
Now I have to get it up THERE, from here. In the meantime:
Someone mentioned a table or list of VIN's that would tell me if this is one of the bikes that had bad pistons. Anyone know what I mean?
Also, is the handlebar on a Bandit 1200S adjustable up? I swear to Allah, if it was an inch higher it would be perfect. I haven't got the owner's manual yet.
Tx!
Not sure about the bars being adjustable....if they aren't check these out:

Appreciate the link, but they don't cover the BanditoS, unfortunately..

Stock, I don't recall the bars being adjustable.
I think there are risers made out there, but you may have to get new brake/clutch lines made to use them. I do recall some people using HeliBars on the bandit.
I'm willing to ride it up for you if you can get me down there![]()
Appreciate that, but I'm gonna do it mee-seff! Looking forward to the ride up, gonna take a couple or three days and take the long way up. I'm in Hamilton now, sucks not having it with me, but with the weather what it is most of the time lately (and back home in Va.), only the truly hardcore go out in this stuff.. Hardcore, I'm not![]()
