    Grips on R1's

so reciently I put an 04 R1 throttle on my gixxer, but having a hard time keeping my grip to stick to the new throttle tube.

i wasnt able to find a good picture of the gixxer vs R1 throttles to show, but the R1 throttle is a smooth tube, where the gixxer one had ridges that would grab the grips (no glue needed).

I had grip glue blue on there, which gave out today on my way home from work. Then used hair spray (worked fine on my left grip), which lasted one wrist twist.

So what are you guys using to keep your grip on the throttles?

Wrap it around twice, tighten it as much as you can without breaking it, try to get the point when you wont be grabbing the grip, kinda between your thumb and fingers on the grip, then use something to push the point INTO the grip so you dont stab yourself

I poured denatured alcohol through the grips to lubricate them when putting them on and then safety wired them. No trouble at all racing all season and the bike was left outside all year.

Use grey primer spray paint as the lubricant. Let it dry then safety wire it. It will never move again.

DB, when possible, safety wire and safety wire plyers would be a great addition to your tool kit even if you don't race.

Depends on what kind. The pump kind doesn't work as well as aerosol ones do.

Of course, I haven't had to change grips in a long time, so things may have changed.
