    Helmet maintenance reminder

It's funny that people, like me, will spend lots of time to make sure my bike is maintained very well, but neglect other items like my helmet.
I went to put on my helmet this morning to head to work and it finally dawned on me that my visor was very loose. I popped off the visor pivot covers and found that the screws that held the pivot mechanism were just about to fall out. A few turns with a screwdriver and it's a world of difference.
For my Suomy, the pivot covers come off by using a small screwdriver and pushing on the ribbed release lever inside the front of the cover, between the front of the cover and the visor itself. 90 seconds of maintenance prevented me from having my visor fall off on the way to work.

    Re: Helmet maintenance reminder

I am noticing my street helmet isn't as snug as I would like I have only had it 3 years, looks like I need to get new pads or a new helmet.

ya same here. that's why i'm switching from Shoei --> Arai for my street helmet next time. much easier to just order new cheek pads

Somebody had noticed my HJC Carbon starting to yellow from the sun and recommended that I apply some wax to it to keep it from discoloring. Not sure if it worked or not, but I figure it couldn't hurt. Makes bug removal easier too.

If you have a removable liner and/or cheek pads, give them a good wash and air dry every once in a while. They'll feel brand new!
