My brother was just deployed, and is letting me use his bike for the year. He's horrible with maintenance/repairs/etc didn't winterize it...
The thing runs, and I put new gas in it...however it loses power (doesn't matter what I'm doing - inclines, accel/decel). The general consensus of folks I've asked is that its a "fuel issue". Does anyone have time to help me figure this out, or can recommend a reliable shop (that won't gouge me cause I'm a chick) to have this looked at (and give it a general once over)?

Check tank for rust first. If the tank is rusty, you will need to have it treated and coated, otherwise fuel issues will keep occurring. Is the bike carbed or EFI? In the former case you may have to go through carbs and clean them. In the latter case you will need to check fuel pressure. You may need fuel injectors cleaned or replaced and possibly fuel pump (the pumps don't like rust).
Remember, most of your fuel is actually air. If you have a mouse nest in your airbox, you will likely have a blocked air filter and that will literally choke the motor and produce your symptoms. Easy to check.

How is it we are just now seeing this thread, 3 months after it was supposedly posted?
What's the difference between a bolt and a screw?
First you screw, then you bolt.
