Impact wrenches, while an essential part of an amateur mechanic's toolchest, possess a great deal of torque. Double check that your impact wrench is set to "loosen" before using.

Lemme know if you need to drill and tap anything or install a helicoil. My dad's a TV repair man and he's got a bitchin' set of tools. I can fix it.

Thanks dave, that's much appreciated. Luckily, I've got a second set of rims coming that just happens to include the rear wheel hub, so it's not a dire emergency, but i would like to fix this hub eventually.

I don't think I've munged up the threads too badly but wont' know for sure until I get the old studs out. If not, it's just a matter of two studs, which will cost me three bucks apiece and I'll order next time I screw up something major and need to get OEM parts...so, I figure, about a week
