does anyone know where i can find the size of the nut. i have a 99 gsx-r 750 and will be replacing the chain just want to get the right size socket thanks
I am not sure about the GSXR, but 36mm is a commonly used size there. Hope you plan to use an impact wrench, it's not a good idea to try and remove it without one.
usually 32mm for the front sprocket. 32mm and 36mm sockets are common for many parts on the gixxers (front sprocket, rear axle, top triple nut). you may want to take a trip to sears and get yourself a 1/2" drive ratchet & 32mm & 36mm sockets

Yea... good job on telling me the night before. That gave me plenty of time to order it for you...
Dealers don't generaly stock steering head nuts. Most people actually use a 36mm socket on them, rather than destroying them with an adjustable wrench.
It's on the way... Squid!![]()

Even a ratchet-mounted-socket on can slip off and bugger up the nut on my 9R. The nut is not very deep and there's little for the socket to grip. I will only use an impact wrench.
