Looking for a shop or independent mechanic in mass (preferably central) to resurrect a neglected V Strom so I can potential ride again after 5 years.

While I’m not in central Ma, bring yourself, the bike, and some lube, and I think we can cum up with a “fun” maintenance plan

You can’t seriously be comparing the two! lol. I have had the Strom for like 5-6 years? Put 80 miles on it. It’s embarrassing.

Nova is great. They have been doing work for me for a while now. Unfortunately they are booked until winter so not much chance of getting any work done soon.

I've never actually paid Nova to do anything, but Sayre is a great guy and they seem to do awesome work.

The whole staff at Nova is great. The shop is becoming way to small though and that's after the renovations.

Totally. Their new shop is like 3x the size of their old one too I think. I think their reputation has gotten so good that people are coming from Boston.

There is a place in Avon CT called Strictly Dirt that works on old street bikes. They are the only place I know of that will work on anything from the 90s and older other than Nova.
You can also replace the head yourself. It's not hard on those older bikes.

Thanks for that, the base gasket also has to be replaced, its the original and removing the head will disturb it and most likely will leak if not replaced. I have a spare low mileage head but it is stripped so all the valves, springs etc. have to be removed from the old head and put into the new one, I dont have a spring compressor, or the shims neccessary for setting the valve clearance and have never removed cams on a bike before,,
