I'm in for this. I don't think I've actually met most of the people talking about it and that'd be worth the time right there .

Did you have time/day of the week in mind?

List of topics. Add anything you would specifically like to learn.

    Oil/filter change
    Air filter check
    Chain and sprocket install
    Wheel removal
Fork removal (no fork internal stuff, ill leave that to PK)
    Valve check/adjustment
    Clutch replacement
    FI code diagnosis
    Carb removal/clean
Brake pad/line change and brake bleed
    Coolant drain and flush/fill.
    Exhaust removal/install.
    Shock removal/install
    Swingarm removal/install.
    Tire swap
    Basic charging system.

Onviously, getting to all of that in one day would be impossible, even with 3 "instructors" so we would have to decide what to focus on.
I think a saturday or sunday. Start at 9am.

To the OP... give it a couple of months and you'll have to swing by the garage in Waltham once it's done. Usually have a few bikes apart at any given time, and only the worst situations require the Degsy bat signal (huge bottle of rum).

Please demonstrate the difference between a Craftsman 'phillips' driver and a JIS driver.

The inside edge between the tangs on a JIS screw bit is a more square shape. The tangs are also fatter and uniform from top to bottom on a JIS. On a phillips, they are thinner and taper down.

^^This. It is the only mechanical skill that still sometimes escapes me. I have spent hours on a single bolt. I have no issue rebuilding an engine or transmission in a bike or car or boat though.

To the OP the best mechanical skill is confidance. Get a bike for $500 and rebuild it from the ground up. By the time ur done you will probably be into it for $1000-$1500 and have a more valueable bike and probably be an expert on that bike at least. And if you screw something ip rember it was only a $500 bike.

Right. Show everyone the dot on the screw heads. Shake the right driver in their faces and tell 'em to invest in a set of the right drivers.

Tired of buying used motorcycles with rounded out screw heads.

Fer serious though. Where do you source your drivers? I finally broke down and mail ordered a nice set off the 'net. Now I need some for my 'track day' kit.. and so on.

You know, I never thought to look there. Turns out the best option is the place I bought direct from just advertising on Amazon.

In for learning how to do a valve check...

Would be fun to do it all as a practical lesson on our own bikes...

And yes I know that doing all this requires a) tools b) materials.

Perhaps a materials and tools list for us?

I could use a course in FI codes and trouble shooting that. I'm in for that portion.
