My ninja 250 died on my ride home yesterday. I was cruising at about 8k when the engine lost power and I had to downshift to keep it moving. When I came to a stop a few hundred feet later smoke was pouring out of the crankcase breather as was a little oil. And it wouldn't idle and died. If restarted the bike would immediately smoke out of the breather and the oil fill when I took that off. Oil level is perfect btw and this oil change probably had about 1500 miles on it. So the oil wasn't over filled. I'm stumped.

Overheated. Water pump? Do a compression test.

I have a coolant system pressure tester also if you want to borrow it.
Bad head gasket, coolant in oil is steaming.

Didn't have a chance to tear it apart yet because I was working on the race bike before the races this weekend. Will tear into it this week and let you guys know. Thanks!

Might wanna ask for some money back from the person you bought it from...

My money is on GNTurbo6's bad head gasket theory. Just happened to a buddy of mine. Right out of the blue, no throttle response and ran like shit. Many $$$$ later he got it running. 3 weeks out of warranty...yes he was pissed. They worked with him a little but he still had to pony up.![]()
