    New Plastics - thoughts?

So my 01 F4i runs well enough, but the rashed plastics are beginning to get to me. Anyone have any experience buying aftermarket plastics like this:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ABS-F...Q5fAccessories

Am I looking at similar quality as the stock fairings, or is this gonna be flimsy shit?

Also, anyone know of a full set of 01-03 CBR600 F4i red/white plastics up for sale anywhere?

Ebay doesn't have any hot pink zebra print, that's why I'm asking for stock.

My buddy put a set of those on his f4i, fitment is nowhere near perfect. They look good from far but are far from good. They will be warped and you will have to wrestle the hell out of em and maybe drill some new holes. Cheap though.

    how bad are they rashed?

send pics to empiregp.com and see how much it would cost to get them fixed.

iv'e sent them pieces and had them put them back together

Cheaper than getting new ones? It's not sheer through, but it's not scratches either.

Nothing needs to get put back together, but it definitely needs to be repaired, cracks sealed, etc. If it's cheaper than new plastics, I'll definitely do that.

google Chinese fairings. Seems to be too many bad reviews to take the chance IMO.

every time i had them fix something it was a lot less than new.

send them pics and get quote.

if your not in a hurry to get the parts to them and back i might be able to hand deliver the parts and save you on the shipping

    Re: New Plastics - thoughts?

Thanks Jim. Yea, I've been off the radar for a while.

I figure I'll snap some pics and get a quote for it. Thing is, it really depends on how much longer I'll have it for. I'm thinking of riding it until Fall 2010, then selling it - with the rash, someone might be interested in it as a track machine, or stunt bike (*tear).

Repairing all the plastics might be flushing the cash if it won't bump the reasonable asking price...

    Re: New Plastics - thoughts?

here's a thought. you're looking to spend like $600 for the bodywork, right? do you know if that bodywork is one solid color and decals? example: my fairings are all yellow, but have black decals to make it look like it's 2 colors.

if your bodywork is all one color, then i would probably just get my OEM stuff repaired, then deal with making a new set fit. Robbie at Peach Pit did my bodywork, and is well known on this forum for his amazing work (see the "orthodontist 749r thread).

I like the thought, but I believe the side fairings are painted both red and white. Could be wrong, will check tomorrow morning.

Would this Peach Pit place charge about the same as Empire GP you think? I'll be in Upstate New York this Fall, so getting to either place would be a trek. Would probably ship, but since it's most of the bodywork, could be better to bring the whole bike.

    Re: New Plastics - thoughts?

last time i was at Robbie's place, he had 2 sets of Desmo bodywork laying there. one guy was from Spain, so i know he gets stuff shipped all the time.

it;s a tough call on price though. i know a few people (myself included) that got great deals on paint jobs with a single color. others i know got multiple colors and custom paint, and their paint job was fairly expensive.

i can say you wont regret robbie's work, and you'd be much better off them buying ABS plastic shit off eBay.

your going to pay a lot more if you bring your bike anywhere to have them paint it.

as far as i know empire gp will not take your bike.

The side fairings have minor to moderate damage, which is part of what empire gp does according to their website...why wouldn't they take the bike?

Thanks for posting; I've been considering getting that same set. Seller's positive feedback on ebay is really high so I had higher expectations of the product.
