Does this bike sound like it's running on all 4?
I cleaned the fuck out of the carbs, brand new OEM fuel petcock, fresh oil, 4 new spark plugs. It just seems off and I'm going nuts trying to figure it out.
Thoughts?
Thanks
feel the headers/exhaust manifold, see if all four pipes are hot.....
Friend: man riding this really hurts my balls
Me: Well you're not supposed to sit on your balls!
The bike's rocking a rare full twin Kerker set up and the air feels equal. I need to acquire a temp gauge, I ain't grabbing no inefficient 1100W headers. These bikes make heat like an atom bomb.
Use a cheap IR temp gun, works great for me.
Or yank one plug wire at a time.

wet rag and listen for the hiss...that will atleast tell you if you're hitting on all 4
Or a spray bottle with water. Hit all 4 headers and see which one takes the longest to evaporate.

I hAd a 95 yzf 600r that was running on all 4 but sounded shitty.. when accelerating it would not bog down but had no sack. I found 1 of the 4 carbs didn't have the secondary diaphragm seated correctly so it wasn't working under vacuum. The way I figured it out was by pushing up the piston on each carb. 3 were identical, the bad one went up and down with no resistance at all..
The diaphragms in top of those carbs always rip & the intake boots always crack as well. Check those things & make sure you have spark. Also make sure when you cleaned the carbs you took the fuel screws out & cleaned behind them as well.

I'm going with spark plug wires. Replace those & your problems will go away...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Definitely sounds way off, running on three cylinders? I had the same bike with a full Yoshimura system, mine ran like crap also......
are the plug wires easily accessible ? if so there is an easy way to kill the spark on each cylinder to see which one is skipping.. you take 5/8 fuel line.. cut about 4, 1 inch sections.. put those over the plugs and then put the plug wires back on.. what that does is still allow the plug wire to deliver spark. then ground your test light and stick the other end into the fuel line.. the spark, if any, will go thru your test light and that will kill the cylinder.. if you have a skipping cylinder, when you get to it with the test light, the engine sound wont change.... see what im saying ? I do it on cars all the time to find a skip but generally motorcycles are not easy to get to...
Pulled the carbs down again and found the pilot jet on #4 was corroding and blocking up. Also cleaned out behind the mixture screws and emulsion tubes with new o-rings. It fired up with out the choke.

Still doesn't sound right? Maybe ? I can't tell. I got a heat gun and cyl 4 was on point with cly 1. It blew the ignition fuse after about 10 minutes of idling.
Does it have a jet kit???? My zx6 has a Vance and Hines pipe, when I 1st got it running it felt fairly strong but just sounded like shit, turns out it does have a jet kit but needles were off a clip and one cylinder had shims installed wrong. I properly tuned carb(s) completely changes the engine and exhaust sounds. Did you have your slides apart, somebody already added mufflers atleast so it should be jetted( if not that's probably your problem) if so make sure its set up right. I've learned never to trust a previous owner.
It's my right to not give you any information on this topic.

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
Four-bangers will generally run on 3 cylinders but won't run on 2.
Disconnect one spark plug at a time while the bike is running. If the bike is really running on 3 cylinders, then pulling one of the working 3 plugs will cause the bike to stall. Pulling the bad plug won't do anything.
Where do you find all these project bikes, lol I want a new project bike, but I think you've bought them all
Swap the coils with each other. If the problem goes where the coil goes, it's the coil. If it doesn't, the issue is somewhere else. I'd probably try swapping (or just replacing) spark plug leads too.
Don't disconnect the coils with the engine running! This ruins some coils.
