My front brakes pulse pretty hard on braking, not too noticeable on the street but it's annoying trying to set up for turns on the track.
They've pulsed since I got the bike, at 6k miles, can't believe the rotors could have warped in that amount of time? Is there an easy way to check them?
I've been watching ebay for a deal on a set of rotors but no joy, and new rotors go for $199 APIECE, ouch, I'm just too cheap.
Maybe I just need new pads? Yeah, yeah, that's it...
Anybody wanna sell me a rotor cheap? You stunters are always up on one wheel anyhow, you don't need those front rotors they just add weight!
Warped rotors or hot (hard spots) on them.
Use a drop indicator, set it on a mag base, or clamp it on the fork, and give the wheel a spin...Front supported on a stand of course, if it runs out more than .010" .......![]()
You can usually get a set of used rotors for about 100 for the set on ebay.
I got a set for my girls bike for 100 bucks. Look around they are out there.

I have a dial indicator or two and experience with bending rotors back into shape. Email me at work, droman@lucent.com, after August 30th if you want to come over and work on them. I'm on vacation right now and doing lots and lots of boating.
Bending rotors back............are you serious? You can do that?
In theory if you have accurate enough tools, I don't see why you couldn't... Although I'd have to imagine its pretty touchy work...
Cheers,
Chris
But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.
Hey thanks Dave, I may take you up on that!Originally posted by stoinkythepig

Hope your boating vacation went well...
I'd like to get in on this, too... I've still got the old Kat rotors I replaced w/ the Braking USA ones. before I throw 'em up on eBay, I'd like to be confident that they're true...

Not just in theory, in practice. They need to be mounted on a wheel. Email me at work since I no longer have access to NESR at work and rarely get on at home.
