Located right behind the flywheel. Just what exactly does the starter clutch do? What is its function?
What is it doing while everything else is doing its job to move you down the road?
I still love the smell of burnt racing fuel in the morning!
It's a centrifugal clutch that drives the starter pinion gear out when the starter is engaged. Once the engine starts, it will disengaged fro the flywheel, preventing the starter from revving at 20K rpm.
Thanks Guru.............
