I've never checked the throttle body sync on my SV and think it's overdue (18k miles, slightly buzzy, and surges around 5k RPM). Anyone have a sync tool I could borrow or use?
I'm in the metro west area.
I thought it was funny that I was at a major motorcycle dealer speaking to a mechanic and he told me they don't go out of adjustment as long as you don't touch the screw. Now I've never had to perform this adjustment before, but there are a few moving parts in the linkage that I imagine could move over time, no? Suzuki recommends checking/adjusting fairly often, if I recall correctly.
interested in purchasing a brand new, unused Morgan Carbtune with case? I'd let it go cheap, no longer have a twin.

I built one a couple months ago, pretty much the same way as this-

But since your SV is a 2 cylinder, it'll be a lot easier. You don't need 4 tubes like in this DIY, just make a loop.
The Morgan carb tuner is very easy to work with. If Typeone's is new there will be directions how to use it. I use my Morgan on my four cylinder bikes and works well. It's all vacuum air, no mercury like the Motion Pro models.

Not to spoil a sale, since I'm interested in that carbtune, but you can borrow my motion pro carb sync if you like. It works just fine, but it's not the mercury one so it's a little bouncy. I am always fooling with my carbs (race bike) so I want something more appropriate for frequent use.
I'm in Brighton. Just shoot me a PM we can link up and you can use it for as long as you need, if you don't get the carbtune (that I want.)
Thanks for sharing this link. I've actually read this before and I was planning to go the home-made route, but figured I'd see if anyone had a "more professional" (i.e. more accurate and/or easier to use) tool in the area. I'll have to weigh my options since I love tools, as long as I'll end up using them more than once or twice to justify the extra expense.
The tool seems pretty nice! I remember seeing this tool in my previous research. Most users seem pretty satisfied with it. I'm definitely interested and will let you know.
I plan to check/adjust my valves this winter and then perform the TBS since this seems to be the correct procedure. For all I know, my valves just need to be adjusted since I'm about 4k miles past scheduled maintenance..
so what's the plan, guys?Mark seems hot for this, is it his?

Sorry for leaving you hanging there.. Go ahead and sell to Mark or anyone else if you want. I want to check/adjust the valves first before checking the throttle body sync and that won't happen until I put the bike away for the winter. Just to be clear: I'm still interested in buying the Carbtune, but I'm not in a rush to buy because I'm weighing other options.
no sweat! i was just wondering what was up

Typeone, I decided to buy the 4 column model because I hope to get a Triple (and/or an inline 4) bike in the near future. Thanks anyway!
Btw, did yours come with the nylon adapters and clear damper rod? Mine didn't, but the instructions say these should be included. I've emailed them and hopefully they just forgot them. Heard they actually manufacture these in Ireland so maybe they had too many pints of Guinness while putting together my order...
Just in case anyone wants to make their own...
I've got a simpler homemade setup.
I just emailed Sean at Morgan and asked him if I could use my 4 bank morgan on a twin and he said you could. He said you could use it on a twin, triple and four cylinder. I remember reading that somewhere but why not confirm that with them.
My question for the twin cylinder owners is why would you limit yourself to buying a 2 bank carb tuner versus a 4 bank tuner?
EDIT: I do not mean to persuade people not to buy Typeone's carb tuner either. I'm sorry if my post reads like that.

^ yeah, sure ya didn't
as for why, i bought it for my SXV at the time, never saw myself owning anything but a twin. plus the ~$25 savings over the 4-col worked for me.
yup, you can use the 4-col on triples and twins too, explains that right on their site:
The 2-column Carbtune Pro will work on twins. The 4-column model will work on fours, triples or twins.
