Went to RideNow PowerSports in Las Vegas today and a lady was trading in her 2012 Ninja 250 for a bigger bike. The mechanic took it in to inspect it. I noticed the chain had a bout less than 1 inch of slack, close to 1/2 inch. I asked him it was too tight and he said it was too loose! I looked at him and told him that if it were tight then the suspension couldn't travel through its full range of motion. I said it must be for 250 Ninja cause 600cc bikes usually have around 1.5 to 2 inches and he told me 1/2 inch was about right for most all 600cc bikes too. He gave me this look like I was some idiot and said that you don't want it too loose as he's seen broken sprocket teeth.
Don't let him work on your bike lol.
This is why.......
Maybe he can't read the swing arm sticker either.

Ya, I've been through some showroom floors checking out bikes and those chains are damn tight compared to what every none dealer mechanic/biker has told me. Mine has always been on the loose side because.
