Saturday Race #7: LWSB - I get a mediocre start because I had a bad view of the flagger & had to lean to one side, but still managed to slot into turn 1 in 5th or 6th position from the 2nd row. Guyer, Babcock & Mendell broke away early as usual & I followed fast guys Burbank, B. Tansey, Cucinotta and Kent (who TOTALLY jumped the start) around for a bit... They gapped out on me a little bit, but once they started fighting for position I began reeling them in just a tad. On lap 6 John Burbank jammed it up the inside of Bill Tansey in turn 11a forcing him through the grass on the inside of 12. I was able to take advantage of it and passed Bill going into turn 1and I cruised to the line about 3-5 seconds back from the rest of what remained of that 5 pack in 7th place finish and clocked off a new personal best: 1:19.074. I thought I was gonna officially finish in 6th due to Kent's jump on the start, but no dice, they didn't penalize him.... No biggie, not like I was fighting for a podium spot.
Sunday morning I spent the second practice session riding around riding behind Mark Dages... It helped me get a better idea of where I'm at & where I need to pick up time. Thanks bro![]()
Sunday Race #7: LWSS - I get a good jump but had some difficultly shifting on my way to turn 1 and end up getting a little swamped in the pack. The race gets red flagged a couple laps in and we re-grid. The second start was better and I slide into 5th as we file into T1. Mark Dages passes me on the brakes into 3 on the opening lap and I try to throw a line out & catch a tow. The front 5 slowly slip away as I ride around in a lonely 6th, but Todd Babcock got tangled up with someone in T11 and I end up stealing a 5th place finish. I wasn't really feeling it in that race, but over the course of the 5 lap re-start I still managed to click off a couple of 19's... but of the mid-high 19 variety with some 20's thrown in.
Sunday Race #10: LWGP - I manged to get my head sorted for LWGP, my second & final race of the day. Gridded 2D I was in prime position for a good start & I got it. By turn 2 I was in 3rd place and movin WELL. I held 3rd place until we came back around to the start/finish, where Nate Mendell, on that beast of a Duc 1000SS of his, got me going down the straight. I clicked off a 1:21.265 out-lap, by far a personal best. I held 4th for what seemed like forever but then, as expected, got picked off by one TZ250... and then another. I stuck myself onto the rear wheel of the 2nd TZ and gave him a run for his money over the next couple of laps, re-passing him a couple of times on the entry to T1 (once on the inside, the other around the outside), then again on the brakes going into T3. But the next time we got around to the straight, he just walked away from me. Right after that, and with a few laps remaining, I let John Burbank squeak past me going into the T3 chute. I threw a line around him and stuck right to his rear wheel. I wasn't quite close enough to make a move over the next couple of laps so I watched & waited and on the last two laps I had a couple of go's at him. I had a couple of chances going into T1 but didn't work the angle right and had to run it SUPER wide near the apex to avoid ass-packing him on the brakes as we came down onto the apron & tipped it in. I did mange to get by him on the brakes to T3 however, and kept it tidy, but I had to really park it to do so and he managed to squirt back through on the inside and beat me to T4. Exiting the bowl he hung out wide and I stuck my nose underneath him in T7, but it would have made for a tight squeeze & would have probably pushed me wide in 8 so I thought better of it and checked up. That was the last serious chance I was presented with so I ended up settling for a 7th place.
Oh.... and a look at the results confirmed what my lap timer had told me early on in the race......

You were looking super-smooth in the new area. I got both angles, the outside in race 7 and the inside on race 10, with progression, so you can take a look at your positioning.
Good work on the 18's. Man, that's fast. I can't even fathom going that fast on the SV. I think my fastest TTD lap was 1:29.

Thanks guys! I'm definitely feelin on my game this year, hopefully I can continue this progression & keep moving forward.
Chuck, thanks for the pics, bro!
Did you see me get a little head shake a couple of times on my flip for 1a in that LWGP race? Ran a little wide once or twice in 1 after almost rear ending Burbank and the TZ & had to really throw it back over for 1a... think the front wheel came up off the ground a tad on the flip a couple times & gave me some wiggles
I was able to dial in T1 a little more from last weekend too, not running quite as wide post apex as I was before... I'm now getting much closer to the curbing as shown in the pic above & actually got a big white scuff on my toe slider from the curbing in practice![]()

There were some close calls in 1 in that race, that's for sure. I saw Gino trying to hunt you down and Oxx trying to hunt him down. Good stuff. I like it when a few of the people I know are in the same race. Makes it more exciting to see which one will make it out on top.
There were a few of us in the wood stand in 1A/2 watching that race. I'm REALLY happy they put that on the inside of the fence this time around. It's awesome for grabbing photos.
Yeah, I jumped up on that platform as well to nab some pics of Arcy on Saturday... great spot for it & a nice addition of the little steps along that fence. I really hope they add more stuff down there & around the rest of the track to get a clearer view.

hehe, word....
And I forgot
As always, a huge thanks goes out to my ECK teammates... they always make my race weekends easier & more enjoyable. Couldn't be happier to be working with them.
Thanks to everyone who came to watch, hope we put on a good show for you this weekend! For those of you that arrived early on Sunday, sorry about the mix-up at the gate with the coupons, hopefully we got it straightened out in time for most of you guys.
Thanks to Tony's Track Days, Pine Motorparts/PBE Specialists, Phoenix Graphics, Woodcraft, Moon Performance, RJ's Motorsport, Motorcycles of Manchester and BostonMoto-Pirelli for all of the help, we couldn't do it as good as we do without you guys.

They = II got word from Kurlon that the people at the gate didn't have any coupons, though I'm pretty sure they did, and I rushed right out there just as Dave & crew were arriving to straighten things out & bring em more coupons.

There are two ways for me to respond.
#1
pfffft....18s....aint so great. You're only 10 seconds per lap faster than I am. Looser.
#2
Take your pick
P.S. I dont know how you get so close to the curb in T1 - it scares me. When I get close my knee starts talking back..."Dont even think about it, sucka!"

Are you laughing because its pink? Thats awesome because it makes me laugh too!
Nice weekend Pete!
Now I think you need to stay in the HIGH 18's for a while. Especially in the LWSS race. Yeah, that's it, don't get any faster in THAT race. Move along, nothing to see here.
Seriously, the improvement in your times this year are incredible. Just shows you are getting along with the SV nicely. I know how big a step it is once you in the teens to shave even more time off.
CONGRATS!!!!!
