Well Race Fans, that's a wrap. NEMRR round 6, the season ender was a boatload of fun. Congrats to all the Cyclesmith racers. Lots of PB's championships, and race wins were had.

As for my weekend, it was a mixed bag. I was feeling great and clicked straight into the 13s in Saturday practice. I was looking for a PB and to break into the 1:12 bracket by the Dash for Cash at the end of the day, but the weather had other plans. With the rain falling, I had no reason to go out and risk breaking my equipment, so I parked it for the day and cheered Kerry on. She took a second and a win in tricky conditions. Woohoo!

Sunday was a perfect day for racing and it started with the F40 classes. This is the race where Kerry and I get to share the track. I wasn't sure if we could repeat the double win we pulled off last time, but I put my head down to do my part.

I grabbed the holeshot and cranked out a few 13s to build a gap, then worked my way through traffic. At one point I came up on my buddy Lloyd right at the crest of the hill, so I just stayed full on the gas and passed him in 10 o'clock wheelie for some style points (we always have a little battle when I pass him in this race)

As I took the white flag I could see Kerry up the road, so I knew I would catch her before the checkers. She was well out in front of her class, so I followed her from 6 to 12 and made the pass so we would cross the line nose to tail. That's 2 double wins in 2 rounds. We celebrated that one.

MWSS was my last chance to break the 1:12 mark. I was gridded on the second row with a lot of fast company. I got a really good launch and filed in to 3rd place behind Ian Beam and Eli Colby. Eli moved through to the lead in T3 and I fell in behind Ian. I tried a few moves in T11, but eventually made a heroic lunge on the outside of T1 not finishing the pass until we were on the gas towards 1a. That was about as late as I could brake and still make the corner!

I set off after Eli Colby, but he was laying down some steam running low 12s. It wasn't long before I was into the lappers. 38 riders on the grid made for some heavy traffic. I came into T6 with a 4 rider group in front and I chose the inside. Wrong choice! Jacob Crossman went outside and had a clean run all the way around. I got pinched at the T7 apex and could only watch Jacob pull away. I got through and tried to chase, but it didn't go my way and I finished 3rd. 13.5 was the best I could do.

I didn't hit the target this weekend, but it doesn't matter. The races were enough reward for all the work we put into it this season. Honestly, watching Kerry and my teammates race and do so well was what made me happiest. See you all next season
