Tumultuous to say the least.
i was dumb enough to run friday practice. it was too hot. shreddded a practically (one td) new rear in a new york second, so that was the first issue. Chiappisi (the kid is aces) gave me a dunlop rear, so i went and bought a front. (almost what i paid for my last 2 SETS).get them switched, had PK play with my clickers (one of the best bargains in motorcycling) and away i went. ran a good session after that, but that was the last, i missed the next one draining off a tidbit of oil (it had expanded a lil due to the heat, and the rfs's are finicky with that crap), and then the last session was like 5 minutes due to a few red flags from dudes dropping after a looooong hot day.
race 4: dns. stalled on the start.the turd doesn't like to kick when its hot, so i pretty much died pushing the thing the length of the front straight running. thanks to LDR, for the hospitality afterwards. yowza. really bummed.
race 8: start 8th, move up quickly through turn 3 and take 2nd. i battle back and forth with trevor arvidson a few times. my rear stepped hard up the hill and he goes by, i get him in traffic in 6. then we split an ex at the top of the hill, me on the outside, the ex gets all wierd, and i run through the dirt. luckily we had put a decent gap on and i don't loose any ground i can't make up in traffic. he makes it difficult to pass, and i finish in 3rd. woot.
and that podium is bittersweet.
well, through 10-12 and the finish, things aren't exactly sounding correct. i cruise around and throw the thing on the trailer, and pack up for home. i just put everything away and fired her up (she hesitated) and things definitely aren't right. the motor comes out as soon as i can find the time...that may have been my season, because multiple rebuilds aren't in the budget. my fingers are crossed. i'll keep ya'all posted.
great to meet a few cats up there, adam clark, chiappisi, wiggey, and get my chill on in t1 for a bit with those guys.
oh yeah, new pb of 1.22.600. such promise, such tragedy (the motor). that's racing.

Yeah, but what other dirtbike will LAST? I realize full well that they weren't made to run like this, but I can't go back to a sportbike. The plus side is it currently starts and runs, but she doesn't sound good.

Congrats buddy! 1:22's is no joke!0
Niceeee race man. Sucks about the traffic. That would have been an awesome battle. Mike primavera is selling his set up crf450....heh.

What's it sound like? Mine spun a crank bearing, started out as the bike just seeming to run a little flat, then the more I ran it bad noises started coming from the motor. Mine never actually stopped running.
Coincidentally, I spun the crank bearing in the first (and only, to date) race I ever ran in the 22s.
Congrats on the lap times, 22s on a tard is pretty damn quick.

I don't really know the rfs well enough to know what it sounds like, but it could very well be a spun bearing. The heat killed a few turds this weekend.

Drop the oil and check for flecks on the screens (you know this already).
Good job on the times! Great seeing ya out there, maybe I'll turn some laps with you at Bomo.

Sorry about the mixed weekend Chip but at least you managed some rockin times and a podium out of it. I hope the motor turns out to be something relatively minor for you and you will bounce back for next round.

Thanks all. On the plus side, if I'd run the first race, I'd have probably attempted the second, and almost certainly shredded the motor. Pulled a Clark, I'd you will.

Dropped the oil, no evidence of catastrophic failure. I got it pulled last night, and it's getting dropped off this afternoon. Fingers are crossed.

No big chunks in the oil is a great sign. Hopefully you caught it in time so you can get right back out and keep improving.

Congrats on the times! Good luck with the motor - I hope it works out in your favor (aka simple and cheap - we can always hope!).
