So, I bring up Noels SV650 so I can race that pile of shit against a few people... to bad the bikes still giving me problems and it rains in the AM. No rain tires = no practice and cant race it in the AM. So i sign up for a Heavy Weight SuperBike rice on my RR. My tires are well beyond shot but i say fuck it and ill rock and roll a little.
HW SuperBike
As i dont run this race my grid position sucked, 3rd row against the wall... either way I take the holeshot going into T1 and maintain a lead for 4 laps. My tires are quickly fading and im now riding trying to overcompensate for lack of traction and getting very tired. I make a big mistake in T3 and get passed on the inside by 289 (faster guy on an older 750 SRAD). I try and latch on and make a few crappy attempts to pass in T6 and 11... with no luck, few laps later he has a 2 second gap and im spent. On the second to last lap i hear someone come up on me out of T11... so i start to ride very defensively knowing i dont have much left in me to hold him off, try and ride very tight and give no room for a pass. On the last lap coming onto the straight i hear him on the inside out of 12a... i try and lean on him a little but he wont budge so its a drag race to the start finish line... we are side by side and as i go to grab 4th gear the bike wont shift... wooop, there he goes. I finish in 3rd by .03 seconds
Sunday
I really wanted to race more but didnt have the cash for new tires and said fuck it, found a used take off for $40 for the rear and said ill roll with it. Did no practice in the AM at all.
I grid up against the guys I run against all the time. I take the holeshot yet again by what I was told a good 25 yards going into T1. I hold the lead yet again for 4 laps when the rear just butters up and the front isnt doing much better with now the 6th race on it and 6 practice sessions... im now all over the place... 151 takes me on the inside of T1 but swings wide and I take him back and hold him off for a lap. Coming onto the straight i hear him come on the inside like always... i lean on him a bit and soon see that its not him but some other guy. This was strange to me as Its normally me and him. Half a lap later 151 passes me and i do my best to hold on but cant get any traction... next thing you know im in 4th and than 5th behind 290... im all sorts of confused but cant do a damn thing about it due to lack of traction. At this point I just want the race to be over as im way to close to the edge of comfort. On the last lap I get passed yet again going up T4 and finish in 6th
Overall... nothing special. A bunch of guys dropped into the 16s this weekend so racing is going to get fun next round. I was floating around high 17s-19s all weekend :/
