Looking for an old horse buggy

I'm looking for an old buggy, or something similar, as a point of interest for a large garden I am putting in. Doesn't have to be fancy, in working order, etc. Figured you boys in the north country might have some layin' around!

They're all over the place up by me. Some in great shape and proudly displayed, others out in the middle of the woods barely clinging to life. I'll ask around though, I gotta make the rounds this weekend anyway.

Thanks - I'm looking for something in between those two extremes. It's not going to move once in place so I don't care about that.

Have you considered a FWD sedan with snow tires?

I'm guessing you a trailer or other means to transport it?

Most of the stuff I see layin' around up here probably isn't much smaller than that.

That's kind of cool. Found this one locally, but I have no idea it's value and the owner is doing the "make me an offer" thing.

Re: Looking for an old horse buggy

I did some scanning on FB marketplace….looks like a “nice looking” but likely not functional piece is $1,200-1,500. The ones which are shabby but complete are $250-500.

    Here’s a complete one for $350: https://www.facebook.com/share/JHEW3...ibextid=79PoIi

There’s a seller in Cranston, RI that has quite a few which are finished and nice. Search was for “horse wagon”

Thanks - the local guy (and by local, I mean half a mile away) has offered $650. Based on what you all are saying this is a fair price since it's been restored and is functional.

What do you do if you're that guy in Cranston, and spent a lifetime curating a carriage collection, and then no one wants them? Some of his stuff is beautiful (too beautiful to sit exposed in my gardens!).

I didn't get out & about much this weekend, but there are a couple. The ones I saw are roughly as big as the one Randy posted though. I didn't talk to the owners or anything, so I'm not even sure they're for sale.

It was such a blah weekend, weather-wise, I didn't really get out much. I'll still keep a watch and see if anything pops up more suited to your needs.

That seems like your deal right there, reasonable $$$, next to no work needed and you could potentially pull it home

Re: Looking for an old horse buggy

We've decided that the buggy is too large in scale for my project, so my attention has turned to an old plow like the one RandyO linked above. C'mon, someone has to have one laying around up there!
