Cheap dual sport

Hi,

Looking for a cheap thrasher dual sport I can use for running errands on a dirt road, let my friends ride, neglect and crash (a lot). Only requirements are that it should be capable of doing 50+mph and be Japanese. Happy to do some work to fix something up. 4 stroke preferred. Needs some sort of legal paperwork. Something with passenger pegs would be ideal, but I know that narrows the field down a lot.

I think a DR, XR or XL would be perfect. Would be willing to pay up for a cheap KLR.

I have seen what's on CL, just checking here to see if someone has something collecting dust.

You should be able to find a solid running KLR for $1k-$1500. I did. Twice.

There's probably some DR350's in that 1000-1500 range too. Will do 70 on the highway and has passenger pegs (not sure how comfortably though, never tried 2-up on mine).
DR350 = dirt only
DR350S = dual sport, kick start (90-93)
DR350SE = dual sport, E-start (94-99)
