I'm torn on that one, oil slingers are messy and fiddly to deal with compared to a filter, but damn are they effective.
$300 for a real filter, 2.5 pounds rotating mass removed? No brainer.
Might as well put my two cents in.
The grom/z125 is the prefect pit bike. Other than that...
They feel very similar, btw. I like the styling of the z125 better.

i ride mine around town all the time. it's great for pit bike uses, which was my original intent. then i started riding to get lunch from the track and not taking my car. then it became a street/pit bike.
I agree with Sam that the looks of the Z125 are better. Working on any Honda will steer you away from them as they all suck to wrench on. But there is no aftermarket or much resale desire for the Z125. Groms seem to dominate the market.

I was told by a friend that bought a 2022 Grom and then a 2022 Z125 and currently runs them both. (one is the guest bike) The feedback was that the suspension on the Z125 was superior to the Grom. Better bump absorption and less pogo.

I *SO* wish I had a use for wunna these. Good luck on your search Sav!
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I'm sure this is a silly question since I have a z125, but was it that bad to warrant the upgrade to Ohlins? The stock Z suspension is just fine for the around-town stuff I use it for, but even if it was worse I couldn't justify upgrading as a % of vehicle cost and intended (street) use.
I'm happy to throw Ohlins in my trackbike, Touratech in my ADV, and other suspension mods on my other bikes but I just can't see upgrading the 125.

It's sort of like driving a lifted Tundra with a huge tattered American flag that was made in China hanging out the back while bitching about how Biden ruined everything. Lol

the Z125 shock was a temp fix as the one that came with my bike was a fake amazon special with no oil. even the adjuster knobs were plastic and part of the unit.
the Z125 seemed ok and did its job, but i did notice better handling when i got my Ohlins. the spring was set up for my weight and i noticed it raised the rear a bit. i got my ohlins shock when they were discontinuing that model and dropped the price to $349. looking back, i would still do it again.
