I'm looking for an entry-level MIG welder from one of the big three. Anyone got one for sale? My budget is ~$400 or so. 220V is okay.
Thanks,

In that price range a new Hobart 140 handler can be had brand new.. Maybe a touch more. Last fall they had them at Tractor supply for a really good price.
The older I get the Faster I wuz
I'd think less about price range and more about the material you need it to handle. As a general rule of thumb as material requirements get thicker, price goes up for equipment. I would definitely recommend a 220V machine, most of the 120V machines available have trouble with anything thicker than 3/16"
I have a Miller 211 and it's an excellent machine, look for one on the used market.
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
Thanks guys. I will be doing sheet metal on my '69 El Camino, so I don't need to do anything thick. This is my first welder so keep the suggestions coming! I have no preference between the three brands either.
$400 would hopefully cover gas and accessories for a smaller unit, which is about what I'm seeing on Craigslist.
I've had a Miller 180 for a few years now and really like it. Hobart is basically the sister to Miller.
One thing I'd personally recommend, go with a unit with "continuous" amperage control over one with "tap" control. Meaning the amperage knob is infinite and doesn't have A-B-C-D click type positions. That gets more important with thinner gauge material.
I picked up a Hobart Handler 140 on Craigslist. $275.
Where are you Boston-area guys getting your gas from? I also need to source a gas regulator for the welder itself...
