A friend of mine just had his first kid and is looking to sell his 2001 gs500. I am just taking it out of winter storage this weekend and will post some pics. It's a great starter bike that we've kept in good shape since he got it 4 years ago.

Have you thought about looking at older UJM's?

He could probably pick one up for about half his budget, then put the other half into progressive suspension and SS lines to make it into something that can keep up with the pack on reasonably paced rides.

I've talked with him about it, but he just got into a 197- International Scout 2 V8 restoration project, so he is trying to stay away from something that will take up his time.

Got him into a cherry 2002 SV650S with all sorts of goodies for $2100. May convert to naked or just go heli-bars. Thanks for the help all!
