WTB SV650 or Monster 750 Street Bike

For a work buddy of mine. Looking for a street SV, 2nd gen would be nice but not a necessity. He also really likes the monster 750's.

He had a line on a nice SV with some good upgrades for $1700 but we were away on work travel and someone snatched it up.

He's looking to spend $2-3k depending on year, condition, miles, upgrades, etc. Let me know if you've got anything.

I would have him cruise SVRider.org. There's always bikes for sale there.

Thanks guys I do intend to send him to the normal channels like forums and CL.

I was curious more if anyone on NESR had theirs for sale or a line on a nice one from a seller they can vouch for that may not have posted it or whatever.

Or if you see a particularly nice example somewhere etc

Pass on the Monster 750. The engine is a total dog. I'd get a 620 over the 750, if he doesn't want a 900.

Tell him to pass on the Monster. I was in the same boat, and was looking at the same two types of bikes. I like the naked streetfighter look.

While you might be able to find them at the same price...the cost of aftermarket parts, repairs, and higher insurance puts the monster in a completely different class. It's not worth the trouble.

Narrow it down to an SV, both 1st and 2nd gens are great bikes for new riders. Tell him to just keep looking at the usual places, a great deal will defintely be found before spring. I'd even check eBay occassionally if the seller is local.

    BUMP

He is still looking and is sick of dealing with CL douchebags. Let me know if you've got anything

He is no longer interested in a monster, only an SV.

    The options are:

    A 1st gen 01 or 02 around $1800

    Or

A good deal on a second gen 05+ for around $3k

He had an 07 mint lined up for $3050 and the deal fell through.

Maybe you can get a hold of this guy:

I tried, but he stopped responding to me and I ended up picking up another SV. Good luck

Buddy is still looking for an SV that's not grossly overpriced for the market or being sold by a poorly-communicating waffling CL douchebag.

    Anybody got one?

Re: WTB SV650 or Monster 750 Street Bike

He is open to other standard/naked style bikes as well, with a max price of $3k. He just doesn't want the sportbike riding position.

Lemme know what you'd like to offload.

I'm still having trouble understanding how a motivated buyer with cash in hand is having so much trouble finding a decent bike for a decent price without getting dicked around.

Buell lightning? Plenty of those on cl for pretty reasonable. Same performance level as an sv. And very user friendly.
