OK so I know it's a bit vague, I am back and forth about racing next year but I know I will be doing quite a few track days as always. I have been green lighted to invest in a track bike. I have had both an in-line 4 and a twin, and I can honestly say I've never had as much fun at Jersey or Loudon riding as I did this past month on my SV.
That said, I wouldn't mind seeing what is out there for ducati race bikes, an SV, or any other twin that would come recommended.
Looking to spend around 3k depending on the bike - I am in no rush to buy as I have all winter to look around.
I am obviously open to suggestions from those I trust (you know who you are).

selling my 05 ducati 800ss. pm me if interested
If you start racing, you'll prob find you'll spank those trackday friends on unlike 4's with your sv. They won't be walking away.

There are times when I wish the SV had another 20 under the hood. It is just that much more rewarding when you pass big bikes.![]()

there may be some exceptions. is oxx running a fast pace control riding at a trackday though?
there are plenty of mostly stock (aside from suspension) sv's running sub-1:20 laptimes, so the bike certainly wont hold you back from keeping up or spanking your trackday buddies on inline 4's. its just more of a fun and rewarding challenge.

Carry on.

They SV is what I'm leaning towards, I just wanted to see what was out there for the more exotic twins floating around. I will repeat, I have never had more fun on the racetrack than I did on my SV this last month. And if I can get someone on an SV to work with me on my lines and whatnot, I know I could be a lot quicker.
That said .. I want a race SV :-)

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
Let's not muck up my thread with silly posts. The 996 would make a nice superbike but too heavy for predominantly Loudon riding. The RSV is obviously far above what I would be looking to spend.

Just get an SV. You are used to it and will have spares if you need them. You should be able to find one in your price range.

I asked you and Chuck, two of the racers I trust along with some RSP guys I have become friendly with hanging out. You wound up doing personal instruction for the day which I'm saving for next year when I have a race bike. Chuck wound up going out and playing with Expat. Next year I am going to pay for the personal instruction so I can get a day alone with you and all that SV racer knowledge.![]()
