I like the peculiarities, too, but I'm just a slow track-day bum. The only area that bothers me enough to mention is the slippery pavement in 2 leading to the chute.
Go fast. Have fun. Repeat.
My first wish, resurface the entire track.
My real wish, smooth out turn three and ten. The Nascar transitions are brutal.
I personally got used to 3-4. 10-12 still scares the shit out of me.
I'm more used to the bumps exiting T10 than those in the chute between T10 and T11. A foot in either direction is the difference between a somewhat smooth line and bouncing all over the place. It's also a popular place to pass, so you're not usually on the same line every lap.
In a fantasy world, it would be really cool to take advantage of some of the existing real estate in the back and extend the road course to 2+ miles by incorporating the existing course.

Smooth out the braking zone coming into 3 and then the 3-4 transition area.

Instead of fixing the OLD...Just repave the road course. With all the new tar in the parking lot.....we could have had it done by now!!!
and I am sure it will attract a few more customers.....also compete with VIR and CT as they have also repaved there tracks

What would I change? The management.
It's my understanding there are some short sticks being handed out.
From the standpoint of a rider, I don't mind the bumps too much, it opens up unique passing areas for those with little bikes at track days. As a (former) racer, the t3 chute is the only place where I'd consistently be winging it.

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
Repave Turn 3 braking bumps and transistions. Run off on the back section of turn 9, the time I went through there was terrifying.

Not exactly track itself related but Legend Cars belly pans?
that one giant bump mid track exiting T10 has almost thrown me right off the bike.
smooth out that newer triangle of pavement at the apex of T2. its fine if you're right over the curbing and fine if your wheels are on the outside of the point but sucks if you hit it wrong, such as when passing. really unloads the suspension in the rain making that corner tricky as hell.

Lots of good feedback. Some of the suggestions are definite possibilities, others will likely have to wait. I know that NHMS is contemplating a complete repave at some point. Obviously there is a big expense there and the owners need to be able to justify it. My gut tells me that it may happen in the next year or two, but we'll have to see. That repave would take care of most all the bump issues that I have read here )certainly 3, 8 and all the 10-12 stuff). There were some interesting conversations going on up there that I need to keep under wraps for right now, but I can tell you that if they come to fruition it will be very good stuff. Stay tuned.
This is great news! Modifying a couple of sections and doing a complete repave would make the place feel "all new"
In the short term I would like see more air fence in the obvious places - 2 and 12. A full repave would be great, but I don't really see that happening in the short term. I think if they at least repaved / smoothed out some of the problem areas, that would really help. As already stated in this thread, I think 3 and 10 are your obvious areas, but also 2, some of the bumps in 1, and 11/12. I also like the idea of a flat curb for turn 1.
Now long term, I would really like to see some investment to bring AMA back. I hope that doesn't require building a whole new track. From what i've heard, it sounds like most of the issues revolve around 3/10 and the fact that you come into 3 pretty hot with essentially a tire wall directly in front of you. I guess one solution would be to make 9 a right hander and then eventually swing a left back and connect around 11/12. This would free up a lot of run off for 3 and hopefully make the track safe enough to bring back the pros. Is that all it would take? I have no idea.
