So there seems to be some confusion about this.
My question is do we get to subvert the registration line for race registration? This would be a huge plus.
After doing all the NJMP events I can't get why we register online (and pay) AND have to sit for a half hour to 45 min on the reg line.
At NJMP I never go through this. I register with NO line before the weekend begins, AND tech my bike for the whole weekend on friday.
All the same staff is in place so why not just let this happen? Even the front gate person could do some of it.
I know I speak for a LOT of racers that spend a LOT of time sitting in reg and tech lines seemingly needlessly.
Any chance on looking at this? Thanks SmokinJoe73
Joe,
Our registration and LRRS race registration are completely different. Our whole deal is that once you register to practice with us for the season, then you don't have to go to the Penguin desk to sign in after you do it the first time weekend 1. It's a small extra benefit for our program.
As for LRRS registration, I've been pushing for a change. My suggestion for last season was that if you register online and do not need to make any changes to your entries then you can go right to tech....no registration lines needed. Penguin Tech is not likely to be LRRS tech - I don't know if they can easily get that done....particualrly since there are two different standards for us and LRRS. However, I have been pushing LRRS to make a change to eliminate registration for pre entries. I will continue to do so. If there is a breakthrough, I will certainly announce it here.
All you should need to do is to sign the waiver and go from there. I know that they were considering it last season, so I'm going to give it 1 more push.

Cool, thanks. Would it help to start a forum/ online petition? Maybe if we show them that we all want it? It can easily be done with the same staff.
As far as I know the tech guys are the same guys so they could just slap a race tech sticker on the bike. Must be 97% of all racers that practice are doing it on their race bike. (maybe 98%) so again no more effort other than reaching for a different sticker. These tech guys are doubling their work by teching the same bikes twice per weekend.
The sheets they hand us in the media center could just be printed out by us at home, then brought to tech whenever its open.
The online transactions through my.nhms.com are pre-registration. You don't get the tech sheet when you register there.
I imagine that with a little effort, it could be set up so that your entries through my.nhms.com become finalized entries and that they can have the tech sheet printed with a receipt. This presents a few possible issues though:
1) What happens if you forget your tech sheet?
2) What about those who are renting transponders?
3) What if a rider wants to change entries?
For the above three scenarios (and others I didn't think of), this could be done at the track, the way it is done now. This would be up to NHMS on how they would want this to go forward.
1) This is why I was thinking that NHMS would print them out.
2) You need to go to registration (or buy a transponder)
3) You would also need to go to registration. This deal would be for those who pre entered, have a transponder and are not going to make any changes (which is a large majority of riders)
I have contacted them again today....we'll see how it goes.

printing the reg from home would save so much time. i would have to fight through boston traffic to make it to registration by 7:30 every friday. if your request gets approved, then people like me would be able to just go right to tech & not worry about the long reg lines.
Thats exactly the point.....hopefully it works out.
the line on saturday mornings was only a couple people long every time I went last year. just get there before 8:30 and you're good to go. although printing it out at home beforehand would be nice.

hey I think I got there in time to do it once (but would've had to rush). and I never showed up at 10. 9:30 once and that was the latest.

Thanks for making the push to improve this process Eric.
I know alot of us were hoping to see an improvement in 2012.

I'm not going to jump the gun, but my most recent suggestions were taken without any resistance....it was just a matter of them figuring out the logistics of making it work with their system. I'm optimistic for 2012 that there will be some type of improvement in the registration process.
