Dear Go Pro,
Your cameras are fun little toys. The video they take are interesting and helpful. I like watching them. However, your stupid mounting system leaves a lot to be desired. I have literally used your camera about 6 times, and more than 1/2 of the times I've had incidents.
Incident 1 (First time I used the camera). The screw backed out and the camera fell off the bike. Fortunately, we managed to find the camera and it came out relatively unscathed aside from some scrapes and scuffs. I will also not hold you responsible for this since I might not have tightened it enough.
Incident 2: I tightened the fuck out of the screw, and cracked the clear case. Fan fucking tastic. 40 bucks to order another one, or do I risk losing it again? Fuck it, Ill fix it.
Incident 3: The screw backs out AGAIN and I lose the nut part, but at least I see it before I lose the camera. Lovely.
Incident 4: I dont over tighten it, but enough so that it doesnt slide around, and put some locktite on the screw so the nut wont back off again. Get back home, camera intact, take it off the bike to get video footage. Somehow the black mounting part has broken. Into chunks. Theres black plastic chunks everywhere.
So dear Go Pro, maybe I'm an idiot or unlucky or maybe its you. Either way, I am not happy. (well which one am I then!)
Nylon lock nuts maybe?
I had a problem with the mounts two summers ago. It broke and the thing fell off the bike. I contacted them and they sent all new mounts. No problems since.
I've had no problems.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
GoPro was great to me when I opened my HD Hero and broke the battery door cover. Snapped the tabs off of it with my thumb. I contacted, they sent a new one.
Did you contact them?
Just got mine this year. You can bet I will tether the mount and camera untill i know how things hold up. Thanks for the heads up Pittinger5
the only problems i have had with mine is the actual mount that you put on the helmet or flat surface. I have crashed a couple times and the plastic mount broke even though i never hit my head haha. and that its corrupted a couple of my SD cards.

Is this the same thing Mark & Todd have? I thought they were pretty fuggin' secure. Who said Richie's an idiot?
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
what junk...those assholes at GoPro owe you reparations!
I'll pm you with my address and you can mail it to me to take this cursed blackhole of headache off your hands

Yes, he's still an idiot, but I still think theres something wrong here. 3 different problems at 3 different times, either Im a complete idiot and always do something wrong, or theres something funny with the product. Maybe I just got a bad run or something.
I have not tried to contact them, I will definitely try though.

You should be aware that Loctite can have this effect on some plastics.

Loctite will eat PVC type plastic. Use a plastic epoxy glue for plastic.

Permanent. I see what you mean. You meant threadllock? Was thinking you meant super glue.Originally Posted by Pittenger5
Use nylock nuts, which my Go Pro already came with? Those won't vibrate loose.
He's already got locknuts. Her name's Leeza.![]()

You could try dabbing the screw with silicone type sealant. This should come off fairly easily. The "Plumbers-Goop" type adhesives are really strong and may give you trouble when trying to remove it. Same with epoxies and cyano's (superglues).
