This work great last time we did it..
Report conditions when you ski or ride so we have real reports instead of the mountains report
At Gunstock there is the Smith trail. A blue about a 1/2 mile long. The carpet area aka bunny trail is open for newcomer and a green trail serviced by the Penny Pitou lift. The snow is remarkably good just not much terrain. Open this weekend but closed from Monday to Friday next week.
At Bretton Woods yesterday. Mild temps really took a toll on the trails this week and snowmaking is on hold until cold temps return.
They were running 3 lifts with 13 trails open- mostly green and blue, no black diamonds.
Thanks dudes..
Ya. We need some consistent weather
I still don't get why this can't be the same as the Ski snowboard thread.
Didn't know it existed.. I did this last year and it got a lot of feedback for conditions
Mt.Wachusett:
Base layer of soil/rocks. Top is mostly loose grass with some groomed mulch.

shit..did that exist last year? if so.. i had this last year and for some reason everyone posted in the conditions thread i started..
Does anyone live near Greylock that could provide a conditions update once it starts getting some snow?! Some buddies and I are hoping to make a weekend trip back there this winter to hike and ski the thunderbolt trail.

Any new reports.. I still haven't had time to go
At Gunstock it's limited terrain on groomed hard pack. The base to summit lift is open now. Snowmaking is whenever possible. Half price tickets till Monday in effect.
We skied 12/30-31 at Sunapee. Only two routes top to bottom but snow conditions were surpringly good: more like sprig given temps. Beginner area and expert trails all closed. They rented two industrial air compressors and brought in 16 extra snow guns to help. We need cold....
“It's 2 minutes for any capable adult.”
Skiied Wildcat Tues and weds. Only lynx and polecat open, they aren't really blowing snow anywhere else so it will be a while before we see more terrain. Barely worth skiing with the pass, I sure wouldn't pay for it right now.
I had plans to ride Stratton this coming Monday. Not so sure now, forecast says daily high of 8 degrees. Feast or famine, sweat or frostbite. Will watch the winds and decide.
I did pay.
Wednesday I skied Wildcat. Plan was for Attitash, ski report said more open at Wildcat. That's crap of course, only two runs open, one not groomed. I don't care how many trails that is; it's only two runs.
Un groomed run was shit. Very wet man-made. Not my bag. Last year I skied ungroomed man-made at Attitash that was kinda fun. This wasn't. I think ungroomed man-made is only good if it is very, very cold like it was last year. Temps were low and the wind was blowing. That chair up the middle of Wildcat was cold as can be. I'm pretty tolerant of cold but even I felt it. Upside is the temps kept the snow from getting sloppy.
Late Wed I drove to Attitash to check it out. Same exact story. Worse because everyone was funneled into one trail that was scraped to hell.
Thursday my party decided to ski Attitash all day. Temps were well above freezing. Good runs until 11-ish. Then the going got tough. Upside of the warm temps was the scraped off bits were not icy. Downside was the cement mounds of man-made were poopy. We were done by 2:30.
The one bright note about the 2 days was there were NO LINES. More often than not I spent more time getting my ticket scanned than I did waiting in line for a lift.
Also I forgot how painfully slow the triple @ Attitash is.
In all, it was what it was. I'm out $130 and a day of PTO for two days of very meh skiing. If it weren't for the condo time share I was staying at-which is to say if it weren't for the friends I was staying with, I would not have gone.
Word about town this morning was Attitash was only charging half price at the ticket window.
Not a good start for the ski industry in New England this year.

Hahaha.. yup.. the worse the conditions, the thicker the shit
Snow forecast for NNE Sunday night, followed by well below zero temps. As long as we don't get a thaw and rain anytime soon conditions should improve rapidly.

Yeah that was polecat you were on with the wet guns. Not sure why they were blowing wet snow on an active trail with already poor visibility but it definitely made for a less than optimal experience
Wildcat has struggled with their snowmaking recipe over the years and while it seemed like they finally had it down last year apparently somebody forgot how to make the snow again during the off season.
Until they open up catapult the only way down will be through lynx and polecat and those trails alone can't handle the skiier volume they see on a normal weekday, much less a holiday one.
Attitash was worse. Pretty much the only way down from the top. Total shit show. Moat was open from the quad and wasn't half bad, if you could get it clear of the ski school chains.
