All the hi-viz jackets are textile. Let one manufacturer incorporate it into a leather jacket in an appealing way and I'm there.

I just wear a yellow reflective vest.

True, but when riding in hot temps, it sucks to add layers.

This isn't bad, but too much $$$

It's a mesh vest. I don't even notice it. Plus if I am not wearing it I can shove it under my seat, as it folds up very nicely.

Hot glue works wonders! Glue them to the underside of your windscreen fairing, just reach under, pluck one off, and let her drop from your left hand..

I would suggest getting some hard candy.
Sourballs or jolly ranchers work well.

When they hit a windshield they make a very satisfying crack noise but no damage and you don't risk killing someone when a ballbearing goes through a windshield.

The hard candy shatters into sugar dust so there is no evidence except a plastic wrapper which blows away but the car driver is still left with a "WTF?!?!" moment.

A friend almost got taken out by a massholed douchehead going left out of a Hannaford. It was the straw that broke the camels back. He said he lost all of the "fun feelings" of riding. Posted his beemer and sold it 2 days later. He has officially quit motos. I type this after passing a head on collision on Rt.16

for some reason I haven't seen any of these yoyos in quite some time while riding my bike. Maybe its cause I only ride my bike on one ways.

And I hope you make it!

The mesh vests work well and don't appreciably restrict airflow. I bought one from Galls that has more reflective material. As an added bonus it looks like the one LEO's wear at details so the cagers are extra-attentive.

I went on back-to-back trips to a parts shop one Saturday morning. First trip with a "regular" jacket and second with the hi-viz. Three lane changers that didn't see me on trip one, zero on trip two. Once you wear it you won't go back.

OK, I have to say that bad driving is not the norm, nor is it normal for people to intentionally be assholes when they drive.

Today we drove all over NH for close to 6 hours, with only a couple of exceptions, the cage drivers were courteous and polite.
People waved, pulled over to let us pass, waited at intersections for all us to go through and various other ways to show that they do pay attention and are very nice people...just like us.

As far as surviving, I do agree with Black Squirrel, changing other people isn't going to happen, sharpen your skills and drive better.

You would be better served concentrating on not getting run over than trying to reach for some object to throw at the cager.

that's because it was a Sunday afternoon in NH. try that during the week anywhere from MA south on 95 to anywhere you wanna stop and you'll have a different opinion.

Bad driving IS the norm on most days.

No it just seems that way.
I commute 82 miles into Mass every day.
I average 500-600 miles a week on my bike.
I can say without a doubt that I see several (10-15) bad drivers a day.
On this same day I see 50-100 drivers that are paying attention and are driving safely.
You might not notice them because you don't need to worry about them. You just need to worry about the bad drivers which is fine but the good drivers are there...and you know what? Sometimes, I'm one of them.

so you're saying 15-20% of the people on the road are bad drivers. let's say that's accurate. that means statistically there are more good drivers but don't you think that's too many bad drivers? there shouldn't be that many bad drivers.

Probably helped that you were with at least a few other motorcycles. If you were by yourself I doubt you'd see the same courtesy.

oh for the love of god (even though I doubt his existence)
You're god damn right there is.

I took issue with this quote....
Bad driving IS the norm on most days.
For something to be "the norm" there has to be more of one thing than another..... The majority is "the norm".

I dislike people making statements that are inflated just for the shock value so I refuted the claim.

If you want to continue this waste of time argument... tomorrow count every car you see on your way to work and then count every person that is driving poorly (by this I mean someone who is actually doing something hazardous).

If you come up with a number of hazardous drivers greater than half of the total cars that you see I would be astounded.

ilikenapalm: you are probably correct but unless you are able to interview each of those drivers you do not know why this is the case. I have had plenty of people "let me by" while I was riding solo.

I stand by the belief that the majority of people are polite and good.

I just want to say blowing the shit out of a wal-mart, or many wal-marts, would actually help the American economy instead of the Chinese. So, is blowing the shit out of a wal-mart really that bad? I say crank it up

Maybe it works because of the Chuck Norris factor.

Noted. Never heard of Galls.. thanks for that. Much more reasonably priced than the motorcycle oriented stuff.
