My friends and I often trade e-mails with the different beers we experience. Here are just a few I've enjoyed over the last week. I actually went and picked up about 100 bucks worth of microbrews today in Belmont. should set me for a week or two ha ha

im enjoying a Tank 7 right nowtasty. I think I ordered one on draft the other night but not positive...
couldn't grab what i planned to tonight but scored the Tank 7 Farmhouse from Boulevard, Righteous Ale from Sixpoint and an Imperial Red IPA from Blue Hills.
not sure I like the Righteous but need to try another. I just tasted metal at first rather than the dry hop.

Just picked up some Young's Double Chocolate Stout and UFO White for me and the wife (respectively). I'm slowly turning her into a beer snob.
Also picked up a bottle of Samuel Smith's Strawberry Fruit beer just to give it a try.

Ahh Sixpoint. Just finished the last of my Bengali Tiger and Sweet Action the other day. I picked up Diesel today. They have so many I want to try but their selection up my way is a very small fraction of what's available.

I looked for the Diesel, no dice. want to try it, sounds delicious. used to drink a lot of stout but I've been in an IPA 'rut' for the last year or so.

thats exactly what i started with, now i have 5 gallons of a stout, an ale, and a hard cider going (cant remember what the specific beers are) I want to do all grain but i definitely dont have space for the extra equipment so I've been sticking to partials for now. the beers smell fantastic, they just need bottling now

I tried the Candia Rd. Hop-ful IPA and I wasn't impressed. The flavor was ok but there was no carbonation. I expect IPAs to be effervescent. It almost reminded me of a dry hopped barley wine.

"Could you elaborate on that a bit? Just telling me not to run a specific tire, and giving me no true logical explanation is like telling me I'm going to get my dick sucked tonight, and not by whom."
A good friend of mine brews and kegs his own beers. Most are completely delicious. Heres his full size old school fridge turned into his kegerator. 5 on tap at any one time. Yumm.
Yea i made the mistake of having a electric blanket wrapped arnd my carboy to control temp... got drunk and forgot to turn it down and in the morning it was 77* and i had baby shit green all over the place with the most violent fermentation iv ever seen, luckily thebeer came out amazing... have a blueberry wheat in the works right now

You guys that brew your own beer rule! There are some great beers in the stores, but nothing beats a quality home brew.![]()
Thinking about heading to Meadhall or Lord Hobo on Friday after work, anyone have any interest?
Don't let this thread die already!
Ted, I had some cask Harpoon IPA at Stoddard's on Saturday night with a friend. Real interesting what a beer can be like if it's conditioned a different way.
I was in Old Orchard Beach for the weekend and hit a few of the Portland breweries.
From Shipyard, I brought home bombers of their Barley Wine, XXXX IPA, Smashed Pumpkin, Smashed Blueberry, and Double Old Thumper. Also brought back a mixed sixpack of Applehead, Chamberlain Pale Ale, Old Thumper, Export Ale, St. Johns Liquid Sunshine, and St. Johns Tropical Mango.
At the Sebago Brewing Company I was impressed by their single batch Elegan Saison. Their pub pretzels and cheese soup were great too.
Allagash: Closed all weekend. Why would a brewery close its store on a holiday weekend?
We found a restaurant in Old Orchard Beach called Jimmy the Greek's that had a large selection on tap. I ended up having a Dogfish 60, Allagash White, Erdinger Dunkel, and a Delirium Tremens.

Got one of those blind mix packs from yankee again I got:
Full Sail Pale Ale x4
Weihenstephaner Hefeweissen x4
Abita Turbodog x4
Peak Organic Nut brown ale x4
Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome Ale x4
Stoudt's Revel Red x4
all for $20.10 after tax/deposit...awwww yeaaaah
Just polished off my second 12 pk of Apple head... Best on tap and with the cin/sugar rim, just like a apple pie in a glass. Guess they are coming out with cherry head later this spring

I was not all that impressed with Applehead. Tastes very similar to Pumpkinhead, but with slightly more sour apple and cinammon.
I've been wanting to try Shipyard Smashed Blueberry but can't find it in anything but a bomber, and it's pretty expensive. Is it worth the cost?

I'm a big Pumpkinhead fan but Applehead just doesn't do it for me. I used to live down the street from Shipyard, they do make a good variety of good beers.
not sure about smashed blueberry but i tried smashed pumpkin, stuff is good and will do the job.

If you guys like fruit beer, you gotta try mixing a lambic with something else.
Raspberry Lambic and Guiness is sooo tasty.
Just tried my Squam Brewing - The Camp (Barleywine) last night. It was decent but there are plenty of others I would buy before it.

I never thought I would be able to get my wife to drink anything from Unibroue but the Blance de Chambly agreed with her. It's a fantastic white beer that doesn't have the imposing flavor and alcohol punch of Unibroue's bigger beers like La Fin Du Monde, Don de Dieu, Maudite, and Trois Pistoles, and La Terrible. The brewers at Unibroue are definitely masters of their craft.
Next up is the North Coast Brewing - Brother Thelonious which is the first time I've tried it. It's advertised as a Belgian style Abbey Ale and lots of people consider it a Dubbel. Overall it wasn't bad but it was a little more bitter and less sweet than what I expect from this style of beer. You could definitely taste the alcohol in it which isn't the case for the better examples of this style. I would definitely drink it again if it were available but it isn't my first choice for this type of beer.
Then we have Ommegang - Abbey Ale which is one of my favorite Dubbels and an excellent example of what one should taste like. Not only is it outstanding, it's significantly cheaper than other great Dubbels from Westvleteren, Westmalle, Chimay, St. Bernardus, etc., and it's made just down the road in NY.
