Its a bit far for some of you, but The Malted Barley in Westerly, RI has the Southern Tier Unearthly, Bear Rep Racer 5, Green Flash Hop Head Red, and a double IPA from Brooklyn Lager I can't remember on tap right now. Good stuff, not quite as good as the Breckenridge 471 that they are pouring at the Mews, but a darn good collection.
I had the green flash for the first time last tuesday, soo good
Unibroue Maudite... One of my favorites! My wife wanted in on the picture so her Sea Dog Blueberry made it in the shot.
While I was out I found both the NY and Belgium versions of Ommegang Hennepin so I picked up one of each. A while back Ommegang was in the process of expanding capacity and it's parent company Duvel Moortgat Brewery started producing beer for them out of Belgium. Hennepin is a Saison (and a very good one). NY is on the left with Belgium on the right.

I just bought a 6-pack of Sam Adams Cherry Wheat and the initial taste is like cough syrup - way too much cherry flavor, and very artificial tasting.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to water it down, mix it or maybe a good black and tan with this stuff?

i hate cherry wheat, one of my least favorite beers ever, but it might be ok to mix with a chocolate stout as a chocolate covered cherry type drink?

I wanted to go there for lunch today too but none of my coworkers wanted too. I settled for roast beef and no beer.

I'm headed over to Stoddard's after I get out of work... see if I can't find something new that I like. B-)
So what other Boston Beer Company products are getting gross in your book?

I think that the alpine spring is "meh" at best, and summer ale has been lacking more and more every year. The noble pils was an awesome beer, a pils with some good hop bite, wish they made it again this year rather than the alpine spring.
I do and have off and on for 20 years. I just recently kegged (20 gallons) clones of Sierra Nevada, ACME IPA, and a Chinook/Fuggles pale ale. As you can tell I have a tendency to favor light body high hop brews: like Smuttynose IPA mmmmmmmm. Once in a while I do a Honey Porter that is out of this world. I buy my brew supplies in bulk to save $'s and improve convenience. I also grow Northern Brewers and Cascade hops.
I have always felt the Sam has been rushing their seasonal brews and rendering them too sweet for my tastes. Harpoon on the other hand has been pretty consistent (good).
I was up at Gritty McDuffs in Portland Maine this weekend and their beers SUCKED for the same reasons!
Now if someone wants to come bye to take a look at the 2 bikes I have for sale, they may just talk me into offering a taste.![]()

Hey all I just saw this thread and am really stoked it even exists. You guys (and girls) are one of the things that keeps me brewing (besides the beer!).
Enjoy all the great beers you have available to you. America is the BEST brewing country in the world right now and by far the best beer drinkers are the reason why.
It also doesn't hurt that homebrewing is so strong. Homebrewing is what kicked me to change careers 20+ years ago, possibly the best decision I ever made. Ok next to asking my wife to marry me.
Rock on, I'm totally digging this thread from over the pond. It is also making me darn thirsty for some of the beers you can get that I can not.
Cheers, Brew

Anybody go to the Portsmouth Brewery earlier this week to sample "Kate the Great"?
Concord Monitor newspaper had a good article about the event... hundreds of thirsty patrons were there for the 8 oz. samples and consumed the 14 barrels in about 6 hours.
You could also purchase a scratch ticket to purchase one of the 2000 bottles available (at $8/bottle!).
This thread needs a kick start!
