Just wrapped up a quick 15mi. Averaged 14.5mph, which I'm psyched about considering the amount of climbing.
All that climbing did pay off with a fun downhill that got me up to 40mph for the first time haha, didn't even realize it until I got back and looked at the stats.

If anyones' interested, and the weather cooperates, I'll lead a casual longer ride Sunday. 33miles, through the countryside, over bridges, and along the ocean a bit. Emphasis on casual. Leaving from the area of buttonwood zoo, new Bedford.

FINALLY restarted my riding season today. Took an easy 25 miler. One decent climb to get the heart pumping. NW wind was crankin, but I snuck north in the hills (protected from the wind) and returned with a sweet tailwind through the open farmland. Felt great, though I was still a bit sore from mx on monday.
I did my regular 14 mile loop, but I did it pretty quick today. The trip was finished in 45 minutes. I was tempted to do the 23 miler that I did the other day, but I was concerned that I may be taking on too much since I didn't do anything for over a week.
25.5 miles today, felt great for my longest ride yet but I think I'm gunna keep it to this loop or shorter for a while. There were definitely times I felt like I was on the verge of bonking out. Kept a 4:15 pace even after some gnarly climbs (for me). I never knew how much of a valley I lived in until I started cycling haha.
Well, last week was not as good as the one before. Squeezed in 76 miles total, not including two spin classes. So, I tried to start this week off on a better note... just got back from a 58.3 mile ride. It was windy, and it hurt, but with the forecast for the rest of the week I figured I should try to squeeze in whatever I could.
On a side note, I'm going to be in Northfield, NH at the in-laws this weekend, and was thinking of brining the bike up -- depending on weather. Let me know if anyone is interested in going for a ride.
Supposed to be nice out on Sunday if you want to ride.
Sorry Ryan, I just saw this... I put in a bunch of big miles this week, so I ended up leaving my bike at home to take the weekend off. I'm sure we'll be back before too long, and I would love to have a riding buddy around here. I'm thinking about doing a ride later this spring/summer that leaves from Northfield/Tilton and heads out to Bristol and goes around Newfound Lake... I'll certainly post up well in advance for anyone who might be interested.
Thats cool man... how long is that loop around Newfound Lake?
Friggin attack of the old guys out there today. I did a nice 25 miler with 3 good climbs. On the last descent I zip past an old dude all kitted up. I hit the flat and just cruise for a bit and he passes me just mashing pedals to try and drop me. His hips going up and down, I'm thinkin, how long can he sustain that? I snick one gear and spin a little and catch him in a half mile or so.
Then I'm cruisin on the last 5 mile flat and another grey beard passes me! Doh! I latch on and draft him for a bit. He's clearly a strong rider and he decides to click a gear and try to drop me! I just let him go. Competitive old fuggers! Makin me look bad....
I guess it's time to start working on pace!
I just got the MT bike and road bikes back together. I guess I should dig out the shoues and chamios huh? These things don't pedal themselves.

So after doing a little over 30mi the other day I figured I'd push myself a bit since it was so nice out today. Finished 43 miles in 3 hours. I felt great until the last 6 or 7 riding back home into a headwind.

I'm gunna be taking it kinda easy for the next week or so.
Quick question... is there a point to the spandex and brightly colored jerseys?
Aerodynamics, padding in the shorts, and hopefully making it easier for motorists to see you.

Some kind of cycling shorts are pretty much a must have. Without the padding I know I couldn't ride more than a mile or two.Originally Posted by ilikenapalm
As for the jerseys... yknow how people have a hard time spotting motorcycles? 10x worse. I came within inches of getting plowed by a box truck the other day.
