Basically I need someone to partner up for an electronics development.

Basis is digital remote control by radio. small sbc that can communicate and acknowledge the communication with ranges about 1/4 mile.

I pay for parts and help where I can and if/when successful I pay for the patent.

Partnership with you at 49%... I steer the buss but financial participation at that rate would be guaranteed.

I live in eastern CT but would/could meet elsewhere.

Note In my life I have hired a few EE. This seems to be the only engineering discipline where they want credit for almost doing a job. I am an old work horse and "there is only doing or not doing there is no trying"

How many buttons need to be wireless? Do you need to transmit data over the link or just the status of the buttons? Why the need for bi-directional communication?

I know Honclfibr does contract work now so he may be your best. I can certainly help out if things do not pan out since I have done some wireless communication projects in the past but my time commitment will be less than his due to my regular hour job.

In either case, we would both need a more detailed specification on what you are trying to accomplish or are you also looking for help to define what you actually need.

Feel free to PM me if you like.

It is a lock out safety issue.

Communications down go to a safe mode.
Conditioned .and. arrangement at remote and home

    Give command
get response from remote command executed
executed command plus home control allows home location to change condition.

The flip=flop back to original condition with communication safe lock outs.

Co development for control and multiple remotes all of which do
1 function or other function or go to safe mode.

Is the home control unit directly interfacing with other equipment? Would it be providing contact closures or other forms of I/O?

    Nope

    human pushes button
    instruction is sent to remote
remote replies instruction and operation performed and completed
control with human operator performs its operation

Probably makes sense that the conditions and communications are validated once every say 15 seconds or everything goes to fail safe mode

everything stays in this condition until next human button push

    Total controls are

    on

    off

All off like the safe mode

This is a pair or more doing a job I do not anticipate interfacing with other equipment

Let me make sure I'm following you:

A person will press a button on the "home" box which corresponds to a certain action one of the remote boxes.

A person at the remote location will press an acknowledge button which will be transmitted back to the home unit so the operator knows that the action was performed.

    Other system detail questions:

Are there other RF transmitters in operation at the site and if so, what frequency do they use?

Was the 1/4 mile range picked arbitrarily or is there a need for that much range?

Can the system make due with pre-defined messages on the home and remote units which would allow for simple transmission of button states (easy) or do you require full text messages to be transmitted wirelessly between all of the units when a button is pressed (hard).

How many remote devices should the home unit be able to communicate with?

Are there any large sources of electrical noise such as electric motors, VFDs, DC motor speed controls, etc. on site that could interfere with a wireless transmitter?

Is power available for the boxes or do they need to run on batteries? If batteries, what is your desired runtime before they need to be changed?

Do you have a price per unit or system that you are trying to meet?

Do you have an idea on how you would like the system packaged or is that still TBD?

Sorry for all the questions but all of these issues will need to be addressed regardless of which engineer ultimately does the work for you.
