That's right, back to a 2 cylinder, 3 cylinder, and a 4 cylinder.
This is all gonna sound corny as hell, but.....
We're all home and well, thank you all. All the emails, PM's and especially all the phone calls have warmed our hearts more than you'll ever know. I can't thank you all enough for your concerns and I couldn't possibly answer all the emails and PM's individually. So please accept this as our most sincere and deepest thank you...
Thankfully and by some unknown stroke of luck we were spared. 3/10 of a mile east of me however, has been utterly devasted. What I've witnessed tonight is nothing short of disasterous and rivals nothing I've ever seen in person. Obviously we have electricity now, but on the east & south side of the lake, they're talking 3-5 days before they get any utility-type service. We've offered our house up to more people than I can even count at this point - for temporary shelter, a moment of refuge, maybe some internet time, a shower, perhaps a home-cooked meal, ANYTHING that can help restore a feeling or resemblance of home comforts...
I'm probably wunna the least emotional people you'll ever meet, and yet tonight while I was out & about, I found myself choking back more than once. I thought the floods were the worst I'd ever see in my lifetime, but even that pales to what I've seen tonight. Nothing I say here can impose upon anybody the destruction and dispair I saw first hand tonight. The desperation and sorrow was both heart- and gut-wrenching - and all in 'my neighborhood'...
I'll be out there again tomorrow, chainsaw in hand, doing what I can and/or what's asked or needed. It's not fair that I can sit here, slapping away on my keyboard while others a quarter-mile up the road have had everything they've worked so hard for destroyed or damaged so quickly...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
They have some great photos & such at New Hampshire News, Manchester News, Weather & Sports, Channel 9 TV - WMUR New Hampshire's Channel 9

Scary shit!
I just looked at all the images. Unreal!
glad you are ok Jay and able to help out. Good thing you got that badass chainsaw.
Tornadoes - microbursts - wind is the most scary element to me.
geez - I guess it's a good thing I had Sheryl cuffed to my bed while this was happening or she mighta been in trouble.....

My area was spared. Had power when I got home and no trees down in my immediate neighborhood. There were a couple of areas of Alton which I passed on the way home where there were huge trees snapped off right at ground level. You could tell something major hit those areas.
Just got back for a little rest. Ended up hittin' the local Dunkins this morning and buying all the donuts they had left & a coupla 'boxes of joe'. Headed to the damage to hand out grub & coffee to the crews & those whose houses were damaged, then spent about 4 hours sawing and trying to clear summa the smaller roads that are at the end of the list for clearing. You meet some mighty grateful people out there when you're working to 'free' 'em from being trapped in their houses, especially when they've had NO contact with anyone for near 24 hours...
We'll be trying to get folk from the local ATV club to coordinate with the FD up here tonight to assist in doing the house-to-house thing again tonight to make sure everyone's safe & accounted for...
I've got countless pics we just took from the out on the lake. I'll see if I can reduce 'em this weekend and get 'em up...
Thanks again to everyone for all their well wishes...

yeasterday, my crew had to backtrack all the way south to Bear Brook SP and Deerfield to get back to the office from Pittsfield

yup and the black car in the third pic was stuck between the pole and the wires for about 15 minutes.
i didn't get any pictures of it, but right up the street around the next corner a tree fell across the road and took out the lines there. and right down 110 headed towards 93 another pole went down and shut down 110 for about 2 miles.
I have never in my life heard my neighborhood so quiet. my dogs were freaking out from the silence.

I'm heading back out in a little while. The clean-up effort has been nothing short of spectactular. From local hacks like myself to the big-boys with 'real' equipment, I'm amazed at the progress. 8 miles of Barnstead's landscape has been dramatically changed. Houses that were once 'in the woods' now have lake views. Sections of forest that once buffered neighborhoods are now wide open...
Thanks again for all the well wishes we've been getting from all ya'll. It's truely overwhelming...

A few houses have been wrenched that I've seen. Some damged beyond repair and some with parts ripped clean off. I've seen cars crushed like they were toys. Nothing I say with a keyboard can describe what I've seen these last coupla days. Someone up here said it best: '...take a handful of dry spaghetti, break it in half and toss it up in the air...' The force of such a 'small' tornado is awe inspiring. Houses, cars, trees & humans are nothing to these storms. You don't really realize it 'til you see it...
