forgot to pay parking ticket - can't re-register bike until paid?

I just remembered I got a letter from the registry MONTHS ago about a parking ticket on got on the bike in Amherst back from when I went to school there.

I called the Amherst Town Hall this morning and spoke to a nice woman who told me I owed $50.

Once I send this money in, how long does it take the registry to find out I paid? When can I register the bike?

ps - the ticket was for $9 when I first got it, now it's 50. i suck.

but once i pay it, i still have to go to the registry and get myself a new registration, because it expired 12/31/07

when should i go to the registry?, is basically what i'm asking -i don't want to go and have them tell me it hasn't gone through yet

after you pay the ticket, you should get a receipt for the payment. bring it to the registry and that is all you need!

actually this reminds me, I think I have unpaid parking tickets in amherst too

Actually if you just go to the registry and attempt to register your car the ticket will show up. You can actually pay it at the registry while you register your bike.

My wife had to pay 2 last time she went to register her car.

yeah i know - it happened last may, and i think i lost the ticket.

anyways, i actually have to pay the excise tax on the bike too, but i think i paid that one already.
