Probably firing another one today, that’ll be 3 total, all before they’ve even started. I haven’t even been working on the place for 2 months. How fucking hard is it to be somewhere when you say you’re gonna be there and if not call? That’s another 4 hours of time I have to either use vacation for or make up cause some fucking cunt can’t make an appointment and doesn't bother to call.

did you ever check into that Angie's list? I know it's a pay service but it might save you some headache.

I've used only family and close friends so far because of what you are going through. I have a hard time trusting people to let them into my house, and trusting that they will do a good job.

Well the first 2 where through referrals. This guy was genuinely sorry and I can see how the office could fuck that up but it doesn't give me my time back.

It can be if you find the right person/people. I feel for you Obsolete. I'm a self employed carpenter and found 2 things to be key. Show up when you say (simply call if things change) and clean up your shit so the homeowner doesn't have to. It isn't rocket science. Do what you say you're going to do and if you fuck up, claim it.

You know why? You're a homeowner and they have builders for clients. You might give them a couple little jobs in your lifetime and a contractor keeps them going so if they are going to piss someone off it will be the homeowner. I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying why.
I do just about everything for a living so I don't need to hire them often.

For an electrician in Mass I use Mackoul Electric. I don't know how big a job you have if they can make it worth while since they are in Shrewsbury. I have used them for over 10 years and they never failed me yet.

And if that's the attitude they have they can fuck right off cause it is not that hard to give someone a ring if you can't make it. Is that worth the lost revenue and the bad publicity? Nope. It also makes the job harder for every other contractor that isn't an inconsiderate twat.

Maybe for some. Others specialize is residential, and to them reputation is everything. The best damn advertising in the world is word of mouth and repeat customers.
