How are these? Saw one for sale with a deck and a snow thrower attachment and was wondering what the general consensus about them was.

Very good if bought at a independent reatailer. Not the same machine when bought at a box store. Parts are iffy from the box store sellers.
You're talking the old 212? If so it should be a decent tractor. Deere came out with LA's for the box stores and they are junk. The dealerships are forced to sell them (and service them) too. No decent dealer will recomend buying any Deere that is carried at a box store. Trust me, they don't want to do the warantee work on it.
Have this and have been loving it for 5 years now. Very reliable. Im sure they have probably improved it over the last few years too.

Yea, the old one so I would imagine it's a "real" Deere.

The 212 is a damn good tractor. We had one for years and it was reliable as hell, did everything we asked of it and was strong enough to tow my 1500lb boat/trailer around when I had to move it around the driveway/yard without much of a struggle.
If you don't mind me asking, what's your budget? My dad has a 318 that while in good shape honestly hasn't had much use in the past few years and would likely part with it just to free up space. Hydrostatic drive, hydraulics all around(mower deck, front end, back end), turf tires, plow, wheel weights, utility trailer, etc.
I'm looking under a grand with a deck. I'm fucking cheap lol.
