So I've had the same setup on my '04WRX wagon for ~3yrs. No cats, blah, blah, blah...
Never had a problem getting inspected, isn't super loud (Prodrive)
Anyway, I just failed visual, all the OBD readings were fine, Tried to play dumb and argue that "well the sensors are reading something?", but I guess they had a schematic looking up all the factory cat locations. Passed there last year...
Now I got a nice big ol' red "R" sticker. Yay.
Can anyone pm/post up a friendlier station?
Thanks for your time,
Alex

I think you're shit outta luck. If you fail inspection I've always been told you have to get re-inspected at the same place. Time to throw the stock cat-back on. I think I have a full STi exhaust in my shed...
You don't have to get re-inspected at the same place they just say that cause you get one re-inspection free.

They are cracking down much more now - they almost failed my
car b/c I had a Red Sox plate frame......
Yup-
I dont run a front plate on my Mustang but to get my inspection on take off the rear plate frame (vortech supercharger frame) and duct tape my front plate on- it works every year.
I also take off the blower belt so they dont give me a hard time about the blower's whine (although it is CARB certified). last year the guy gave me grief because it was loud in his enclosed garage bay where he does stickers..
im pretty nervous about going for an inspection this year![]()
Go to the Shell gas station on Rt.1 south between peabody and Lynnfield. It is right before spinielli's function hall. Tell the guy who does your inspection that John from Wood Trucking on Rt. 1 sent ya. (no, I'm not john either)
This is where I go, and never ever have a problem.
Throw him an extra 20 bucks for lunch, you should be all set.
If you dont try my best connection I have, then quit whining......
If all else fails, Lean more....
Some of this should probably go to PM to preserve these fine resources![]()
