So I quit my Field Service position at my company this week. Now I am full time at the facility working as a jack of all trades, mostly in the Assembly department, with some maintenance thrown in here and there as well as training the Newbs. Normal working hours of 7am-3:30 Mon - Fri.
No more last minute trips or long durations away from home installing/repairing equipment, no more being on call 24/7 which I have done for 6 years. (Luckily I barely ever had emergency calls) But just the fact I don't have to worry about the call telling me to be on a plane in the morning and be prepaired to be away for 4 months...
This was a real easy decition for me to make after my company decided to change our pay incentives while traveling. They set up our pay scales so we would loose money. I never liked being away from home for long periods at a time, plus the fact your always alone making for lonely trips. The money was great, but the job itself had many issues. I will miss seeing different places in this country, & miss making new freinds on jobs. I can always travel on my own if I want to see the world.
So what is this regular life supposed to be like? Any tips on what to do with myself? I think I may try to ride more this year!

Travelling for long periods of time just plain sucks. A week away every few months is enjoyable but not consistent away time.
I've only seriously ridden with you once. We should change that. I'll be the guy with all the rash on the left side of his bike!

Glad to see you finally settled down, maybe now you can go on some of the rides that are posted up here.

where are you? framingham? go riding after work w' 02telephone
oh yeah...then there's this thing called tv...
I've been doing the traveling thing for over 15 years now. I'm really starting to get tired of it now. It started last year. I am still contemplating what I am going to do about it. If I don't travel teh money changes in the wrong direction and I like money.
You suck at life. Why don't you quit?
My dad told me I could be anything I wanted when I grew up. So I became an Asshole.
You can come up to the track now, half-so-good. Maybe we can make room for you in the garage.
You're also going to need to schedule some dirt beatings...I mean lessons.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Yeah dirt beatings...........yeah that's it.
Welcom back to real life.

June 7th Tony's day still has room, we expect to see you up there.![]()
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
Same here. Granted, I have a second job 2-3 mights per week, but there is just something so nice about being out of work that early. You can get so much done....grocery stores are empty, gyms aren't packed, and there is nothing good on TV, so you have no excuse to not ride, cause there's hardly any traffic!

Thanks Guys!
So far it's great, but I have all of my own things to do and can't seem to get them done because either friends or family have needed help. After this week I will have all the time for myself and the G/F.
Then my projects, possibly think about the gym again. For now I am back full time playing in my hockey league and softball league! Maybe I will surprise my friends and actually mountain bike with them soon.
I have a job interview for another Field Service job tomorrow, but this is mostly local work with minimal over night stays. Hopefully I will have enough experience for what they are looking for. Commute to the office would be about 10 minutes! NICE!!!!
I can tell you guys Racing is a no go. I am holding on and saving up $ for a house within the next year or so, I have outgrown my condo, not to mention the G/F is looking for a roomate (Me). If that continues to go well than we will need a bigger house with a 2+ bay garage for all our toys.
Dirt riding! Hell yeah, when where???? I'm in !!!!
Street riding minus the tickets (BigRed) Hell yes. I should get the KTM back from it's first service Wednesday, and the RC should be back to street legal by next week I hope? The Dirt bike is ready to ride, I just need to remove the tech Screws, and change the oil maybe?
