By far the best one I've been around for (and I traveled with him for many years):
- to about 12 cops surrounding him in a circle (literally), "....well, you see that car? It's a rental. I bought the insurance, and I'm using it."
...that one sent the entire crowd of them away roaring with laughter. About 90 seconds later (again, literally) Pete took the Infiniti SUV (and all 9 of us packed in the vehicle) through a set of stadium whoops and bent it enough that the passenger doors would not close anymore.....and no, it would not fit in the Computrack machine.

Minor injuries were sustained by all....but the story was worth it.
