They must REALLY want me to stay

I have been pretty unhappy with my job (the travel expectations) over the summer months and I think they finally realized that I was close to looking for a new job, because I got a note from the HR department of the company that I work for that effective 10/1/2008 (my anniversary) they are giving me a 10% raise.

Considering that I will be getting 2 months of retro pay, the dream of buying a track bike is becoming more of a reality. Now, if I can only locate one that I like and others consider worth buying.

Would you like a ZX7R as a track bike?

Yeah, I've seen a few on the WERA board, but I think I'd prefer a traditional track bike.

But motards do look like fun.

Have to be honest, I REALLY considered it.

Just not mechanically inclined enough to redo a bike from street to track.

Hi Chuck. I can help with whatever you need...just gotta ask.

BTW; congrats on the raise! So that 10% puts you well into the 6-figures, right?

Still low. I still made more as a consultant when all the dot coms were flourishing. And that was 7 years ago. Times have definitely changed.

As for the bike, I'm still bent on an SV. I have one I really want to look at (not the one I showed you), but it's 3 hours away.

In which direction? Maybe a road trip is in order?

BTW; if it makes you feel better, I've seen only 1 raise in 4 years...to the tune of 63 whole cents! I have to threaten to quit in order to see anything.....which reminds me....

congrats Chuck, Pete that sucks. On a side note jobs like yours only pay as much as you get. @ least you got a job,the only thing that sucks more then work is no work.

For once we agree. This raise actually came at a good time.

My wife is supposed to be getting laid off in March, so time to stockpile a little cash, in case the package they give her isn't great.

Who cares so long as you end up with a race bike, right?

Well lucky you guys, I just happen to have 2 empty bedrooms in my duplex.

You can cook, she can clean, I'll gladly store the bikes, life is good.

Hmmm, I can see that. My son is a cool dude, so he'll get along with everyone. Even play RockBand with DB.

With a little persuasion and fun he can. Just have to add a snowball fight into the mix.

Doubt it. Although my preference is riding a Honda, Hawk parts are hard to come by and CBR600Fx and CBR600RR's would probably be a little more expensive for tires than I really want to pay for.

Then how come so many people use them as race bikes?

    I'm so confused.
