Not mine, but question...
Description: Operation in breakdown lane
Cap/Sec/Sub: 89/4B (MA)
Fine: $100
Points or no points?
How to fight it? It was at a merging point, at rush hour, but the merging point was huge (where it can fit like 3 cars side by side). The car in front waited till the last moment, and hence could not see the lane ends promptly.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry9000/4.6.0.297 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Link/6.3.1.20.06.3.1.20.0)
Every moving violation in MA gets points.
Must fight it.
Did the research, it's 2 points.
Supposedly the first minor moving violation doesn't affect the surcharge (as per dmv.org, so not sure how reliable it is). Is this true?
Anyone had this citation? Outcome?
Also just wanted confirmation it's $75 just to see the magistrate. How much more will it be to go to court if contesting magistrate's guilty ruling?

I believe the magistrate is $25... judge is $50...
Thanks guys. You've gave me the info I was looking for. Was going to tell them just to pay the citation and avoid getting a ticket for 5 years.
But noticed this:
Date citation written is on the ticket, but date of offense is not. Is this something that can cause the citation to be thrown out? Or is it like asking the violator to sign the ticket (required, but never done and can't be used to throw out the ticket).
So I guess from the crickets I can assume that what appears to be a s, circled, is the norm on a citation, and doubles as "same"?
Minor clerical mistakes on tickets usually aren't grounds for throwing the whole thing out. A judge will typically look past that.
Now if they wrote the license plate number down wrong or a different street, that might hold weight.
