I have only ridden the Beta 390 on the road a couple times and once off road up at Clough. The last ride was back in like Sept I think, warmed it up went to rip it around the block and clutch wouldn't disengage. So I took it apart and this is what I found. The outer portion of the stack was stuck together and overheated. New clutch time!

Dang! I've somehow managed to burn out two clutches this year. I might start blaming Rotella.

Get a piece of glass (or something perfectly flat) and make sure none of the plates are warped. Check the frictions and the steels...

My FJR (I know completely different bike) came from the factory with a pre-lube or something on the plates. They'd stick all the time. It was actually a little dangerous as you could come into a stop sign, pull the clutch and the plates were stuck together and you'd keep going. I learned to bump the throttle when pulling in the clutch to knock them loose. There was a fix of pulling the clutch pack and wiping them down and soaking them overnight in fresh synthetic oil, wipe them down, and re-assemble. Fixed the issue for that problem.
