I am too heavy for the spring, and currently have 9.5 mm of free sag and 114mm race sag. I'd like to get this to work as well as possible for an mx track day tomorrow - do I need more free sag at the expense of adding to the race sag or should the current settings be ok? Any suggestions for comp/rebound to help the situation? Thanks...
Thanks, I was kind of surprised the numbers were even that close. I have everything else set to the Honda manual baselines, looking forward to tweaking it tomorrow!
Suspension setting are pretty much all over the place. I have seen some very fast guys with their rear suspension looking totally sacked out! The baseline settings in the manual are just that - a baseline. You should ride the bike, a lot, and play with all of the settings, and figure out what works best *for you* - preferably well before a race date.
Personally, I am never happy. I am constantly moving my settings all the time. The manual for my bike has decent base-line settings, but right now, I am pretty sure that I am very far from them...
Thanks, I am about 230 with gear so I knew I was way heavy for the stock springs. This will be my sons bike next year so I am not putting any $ into suspension - he is about 135 and will need softer springs if anything. Just want it to work reasonable tomorrow so my old back survives. A friend of mine has rented hemonds mx park for the day, I am going to try and educate myself a bit more about adjusting settings tomorrow and just have fun. I'll have some pics and details if anyone else is interested in renting this place.
That's a really fun track. Hopefully they actually did some track prep and you'll have a great time.
