So we were riding pachaug today, it was a little hot as the day wore on, but especially hot wrestling the bikes in a mud hole.
Once we got 3 of the 4 bikes un stuck ,we start heading up a rocky hill and for some reason I am having a hard time stearing the bike, it keeps wanting to steer me off into the woods, I make it to the top where it levels off, just as I'm getting off to check whats wrong, todd points out that I have a front flat.only 9.5 miles into the day. For some stupid reason , I stopped carrying a spare tube with me, murphy's law I guess, but i do still have a small hand pump in my back pack, I can here the air leaking out as fast as I'm pumping it in, around the valve stem. So still in denile, Bob and todd take my truck keys to go fetch a fix a flat I have back at the truck. Which for some reason took 14 miles to get there but only 4 to get back. I;m still optamistic about being able to finish out the day, but as the fix a flat is going in , its coming out just as fast around the rim and all over the outside of the tire.
So I ride the bike gingerly the 4 miles out to the truck, luckily the trail section was mostly down hill then flat, and the rest was fire road.
I haven't taken the tire off yet but I suspect a torn valve stem.
THis is the first flat in the woods in 5 years, so I guess I was over due.
Thanks to bob and todd for getting the flat repair even though it didn't work.
THey went back out to finish the day, we headed to get a new tube , then over to visit Tully and get in the way of progress for a little while, the house is coming along nicely.

Sean and Leah, it was great to see you two yesterday, it's been a whilePick a weekend to come over and camp, I could use a good night of drinking 8 or 20 beers
Ever sence my flat tire in Maine, I've carried Fix-a-flat in my backpack whenever I ride. It got me out of a binde that day...and lasted another 4 months (i was to lazy to change the tube, plus the tire was poop) Sucks it didn't work in your case yesterday
Again, good to see you'z and thanks for stopping by
