So I finally got most of my stuff to build up a new mini shredder, just waiting on a few things like nice Mikuni 26mm carb and stuff.
When finished it will be a Medina ttr linkage bike with 155 motor and above carb, will try to get a motard wheelset and other things later on.

Are you going to have time to do a couple of races with NEMM? NEMM Race Schedule Or are you mainly doing dirty duty with it?
ooo I dunno, thanks for the link. I really only wanted to get this and sell my old one to get a bike with 14/12" wheels rather than 12/10". I had so much fun messing around in the dirt but it is sketchy as hell on the tiny wheels when you are trying to motor fast! I will hopefully get motard wheels or just use my thumpstar with the motard wheels if no one buys it. Too bad it has different axles so I can't use the same wheelset on my new bike.

well if you're better and the bike is ready by april 10, there is a pitbike only practice section at mototown... i plan on going as long as i get my piston rings in and maybe swap some different fork as my fork seals are almost shot... no need to mention me riding a pitbike is like watching a dog saddle a gold fish, just dont know what the hell to do haha.

haha awesome, ya I'm not sure originally I thought I would be ready for the first big bike race (basically this weekend) but my ankle is still F'd up even though my bone seems to have healed fine.
I put the front end on the frame last night, the forks are definitely pimp, they have the little bleeder valves just like my yz and all that. Going to tear into the motor and make sure things are to spec. before bolting it up into the frame as well.

got like half of the bike done today, put on the front end and brake and test fit abunch of stuff. Switched out the stock ignition/cdi for a race unit and my Mikuni 26mm carb came today. Still waiting on swing-arm and a few things.

lookin good! what do you think of the quality of the parts? Medina was getting a lot of heat on PM but seemed like they were really striving to make great, low-cost minis. the package prices were real good and testing thorough. the bikes look so sick in white 'n black. bet you're gonna love it.
did you order direct through Bob/John? i emailed a bunch with Bob, seemed like a good guy. felt bad i ended up with a Pitster after all the questions he answered for me.
Beta 200RR
Bob and Pitster have a ton of history, so thats why you'll see lots of back and forth when the two are on the same forum. Long story short, Bob's pissed off people in the past by undercutting the market to the bone and using every shady trick in the book to get his hands on other brand's parts. On the flip side Pitster has done their own dirty deeds in the past...
So I wouldn't get too worked up about not buying from either.
I am curious to see how the linkage geometry works out on this unit, ride it over to Peter Kates and let us know what he says.![]()
Pretty good so far, the suspension looks great to me (will see how it rides), some of the smaller stuff you can definitely see how they got the cost down such as the skid plate is super thin/cheesy aluminum. I think for what I want it will be great though. The wheels are heavy steel but I figured if I get bitchy about that I can always buy aluminum ones down the road. I love how the bike looks as well and the frame def. seems solid. I did get it directly from medina and they were really nice. He actually mentioned he would suggest putting japanese bearings in the motor and a few other things. I guess the new bikes coming out have linkage bolts like big bikes and these ones are alittle smaller (10mm I think). Either way they were really honest and helpful.
*edit* There were a few things I was wondering about like rotors/brakes if they would be super cheesy and crap but they seem legit. Rotors are not super thin/horrible and I actually had to open the bleeder to move the pistons out far enough to get the pads around the rotor, that answered my question on if they would be bled good enough!
I would just get a bike by how good of a deal you can get on something you want so I wouldn't worry about brand either but Pitster just seem to be douchy overall sometimes (imo).
Kurlon, ya I will see how the linkage works out. I have had my share of bikes with some wacko linkages (mostly dh mountain bikes) so I am curious how this will ride.

yeah, the whole thing cracked me up (arguing online) 'cause they're both CHINA KNOCKOFFs. hahaa. i saw Bob's tactics more as exposing the true cost hikes rather than shady. Pitster seems to make a decent bike but they're still just reselling China stuff.
either way, i like the bike i have for what i do with it. seems solid enough even though some of the details crack me up. especially after only owning top-quality full size dirty bikes. shit, my Lil Indian '73 replica had cleaner welds than the Pitster.
right, i didnt get worked up but Bob was really good to talk with. i appreciated his time so felt a little crappy to end up not buying the kit i was building.

nice! looking forward to seeing it together. i was lucky that the guy i got the Pitster from did all the usual 'beef up' mods to make it more solid/reliable. amazing how f'in loud these things are for such a small bike. anytime i'm rippin around the yard i get a text from my neighbor up the road... 'you ridin' the mini?' hahaa.![]()

I used to rag on Pitster constantly for going with flashy gloss finishes on their frames when the welds looked like someone with H1N1 coughed a few times and painted over it... SDG frame welds didn't look any better, but the matte finish kept the welds from popping out and grabbing your eyes if you so much as walked in the same state as the bike.
haha ya this frame is not bad at all, and if anything it is overbuilt/little heavy. The aluminum spine frame on my Thumpstar actually impressed me as well, the welds are pretty damn good/uniform beads.
I just realized I am not exactly sure what connectors need to be connected to where on the motor/ignition...might have to pm Kurlon soon when the motor is in![]()

UPS online says the rest of my parts are waiting on my porch, so I should be able to finally build the rest of the thing tonight. Good timing as I just tore apart my yz yesterday...maybe I can put the yz swingarm on the mini for now![]()
