There are a couple of mfg.'s that sell the "link pipe" that eliminates the kat for the Gladius (my bike). Leo Vince has it for $299 and GPR has it for like $399.
My question is at inspection time, will I run into a problem with emissions testing if the kat is removed?

theres gonna be nothing stock on that badboy pretty soon huh kenn? im gonna have my bike tuned to run without my muffler that i took off o so long ago. i can deal with the heavy ass cat for now. i wish suzuki didnt decide to weld my cat to my headersor id be in the same boat as you.
I, um, know somebody who may have removed the cat on an FZ6. I think the connector was made by Arrow for that bike. Nobody even looks. For that matter, the Scorpion pipes that are connected to said pipe have "race use only" stamped on them and nobody has said boo about them either.
I won't tell you what you can and cannot get away with at an inspection station (especially in Mass) but nobody up here has ever mentioned anything about the exhaust when my friend got his bike inspected.

in all seriousness tho why would you pay 400 dollars for something you could get at home depot, i know on my bike the headers to my exhaust would nearly be a straightshot. sometimes you gotta lay your own pipe![]()
Ken,
most inspection places could care less about a mid pipe. Let that bad boy scream!!
Me no likey crash
Hold on to the cat tho. You may need it at some point later on.

Hey thanks guys. Yup I will hang onto the kat-nonFEMMaybe I'll get the bike inspected, then ditch the unit.
Well, one thing motorcycle consumers should be taking notice of is how common catalytic converters are becoming. I wouldn't be surprised if, a few years from now, motorcycle emissions testing becomes mandatory and more commonplace as well as new laws that end up covering bikes produced within this current time span.
I really want to decat my zx6... Just looking for the right time and opportunity. I have a buddy on cars he takes the cat off, cuts it along the seem, bashes out the internals. Reweilds the seem, and then welds it back on. You wouldnt know he did any work on it...
I might go that route.

What is motivating this question Ken? Your bike sounds fantastic as it is and I doub't that you would get any real benefit from what little additional power you MAY get....
Instead you introduce a new variable into the maps, possibilty of inspections problems, and no real change in appearance that I could see...
...sometimes it's best to resist the temptation to change for the sake of change...!
