    Re: de-kat

Well a cat weighs a ton. Probably in the range of 15ish lbs. Removing the heavy internals could be a positive thing. BUT i read on kawiforums.com that a guy removed baffles from his exhaust in the undertail section and he regreted it. It caused reverberations and wierd rattles at odd rpm's and he ended up going back to stock... Just an FYI on what i read.

One note, you already committed the federal offence putting the Yosh on, so playing with the cat isn't adding a new crime to the equation. : )

It would alleviate a pretty heafty piece of weight as Stegosaurous indicated. The motivation, was the yoshi would sound so much more agrressive w/o the kat and installing a power commander to re-map fuel mixture would get more HP/power out of the "stinger"!

Or I could leave well enough alone!

If I left well enough alone the bike would look like it did the day I rode it home. I'm glad it dosen't.

I hear ya Dave about the variable's... Thank you for your input , I do respect your opinion.

Got the Leo Vince Link pipe for "cat" removal today. Maybe this weekend install, with a little help from my friends The oxygen sensor has to be rerouted from the left side of the bike to the right. The link pipe(s) look really good, very very light too.

I urge you to look into people who have done this mod before actually doing it. I'm not saying you wont like it, but the harmonics and vibrations after removing it may makeyou wish you didnt cut up such a nice hunk of metal. Then again... I still wanna do mine even after reading reviews.

He bought a test pipe essentially. Correct me if I'm wrong Ken, but there's no cutting involved, just the replace the cat with a pipe.

I would imagine the harmonics you speak of are from a hollowed cat.

P.S. Ken, is that a resonator on the new pipe?

To replace the cat, you will cut it out correct?? Its not like you wave a wand and hazzah it's switched...

The harmonics were caused from the removing of baffles from the exhaust (undertail) in the can on the very end. He said it wasnt horrible or great but he did switch back. BUT what one man hates another man could love... I wanna see pics along the way when you do it!!! I really wanna do mine.

The pipe Kenn purchased is what will replace the cat. The OEM cat will still be 100% intact.

Nope, you unbolt it. The exhaust is in multiple sections.

Sounds like another Sally from SVrider who can't handle a bike making any noise. The SV650/1000 have been made for quite some time now with just the can/cans and no cat.
